Welcome to the Comcast Mobile Portal Forum

[ Edited ]
Welcome!

If you have found your way to this forum, it means you are using or are interested in using the Comcast Mobile Portal.  Thank you.

Currently, the Comcast Mobile Portal is in beta and can be found at: http://mobilebeta.comcast.net.   (As of 7/30, this site is also now available at http://m.comcast.net.)

Simply key that URL into your mobile phone's browser and you can immediately begin enjoying our site.

This forum will be used for the Comcast Mobile Portal team to monitor feedback, respond to support issues and basically connect with the community.  We will be watching the messages closely, so feel free to tell us what you like about the application, what needs improvement and what you may like to see in future releases.

Also, if you are having problems accessing the site on your phone, we would like to hear about that too.  Please include your phone manufacturer, model and network so that we have as much information as we can in order to help you out.

Thank you again for taking an interest in our product.

Re: Welcome to the Comcast Mobile Portal Forum

I have a Samsung 740, and Verizon is my carrier, and I am having trouble getting my emails.  I am able to access the site, and receive everything else, but not my emails, I keep gettng the same message - Login error occurred- Please check and re-enter username and password.  I know I am typing the correct information because I typed in into the user name field to check it out and the password is typed in correct.  Also, am I correct in thinking that I don't have to type in "@comcast.net" in the user field because it is listed below my Username sign-in? I have been just typing in my user name.   As I stated I am able to access the page and all of the other information, except my emails.  Thanks

You are correct in all your assumptions.  We have tested on the same phone and had a variety of issues with respect to typing the password in.  In fact many Samsung phones have similar issues since on some screens you can press 'num lock' and it will stay locked and, on others like our email screen, you need to hold it down while you are typing in non-alpha characters.  So while I certainly believe that you have tried successfully to put it into the name field and it all looks fine, I can only ask for you to either keep trying or, if all else fails, temporarily change your email password to something a little easier to key in from the phone, just to see if you can get it working.

Keep us informed on your progress.

What will the advantages be with Comcast mobile Portal over the "mobile email" link I have to my Comcast email with my Sam.A707 and AT&T mobile service?  I'm hopelessly new to this stuff.

If your phone has a mail client that works with the Comcast servers, then you don't need the mobile portal to read your mail. You might still want to use some of the other links on the portal, though, if your phone doesn't have its own features like them.

That and I have seen some service that charge for email forwarding to your phone.  May not be an issue with you, but I faced it with my own carrier.

Access to Email

access to email

I tried to access the email on the beta site with my Treo 700wx. I got the error listed below. Everything else seems to be working good. Is the email down? should I try back later?

Thanks!

Re: Access to Email

Jerry,

Just to confirm... you are able to log into email and see a list of the emails in your inbox, right?  It is when you click on a single message, you get this error.  Correct me if I am wrong.

If that is the case, can you click on any other messages and not get this error?

Also, if you don't mind, please let us know the time you get this error so that we can better target the event within our logs.

Thanks for helping us with this.

I tested my wife's account and it works!

jerrysapp = error messages

suesapp = works fine

Hope this helps.

It is, but I think that some of the Comcast.net forums can be read without signing in.  Still, your message was edited, which is fine with me, since you gave us the bit of information that we may need: your account does not work, but your wife's does.  So, from what you have told us, I believe that there may be an email in your account that could be missing a subject, an author or some other expected piece of information.  If so, it should not crash your session like it does, so I apologize for the inconvenience it has caused.

Interestingly enough, we have a couple errors that we have seen in our logs that are due to this kind of thing that will be fixed during today's scheduled release.  For those things that are not fixed, we will at least get some better log checking so that your issue can be quickly identified.

So, would you mind giving us some time to release the new code, and then give it a try?  Should happen this afternoon and I will post to the forum once I receive confirmation that the new code is up.

Thanks again for helping out the cause.  Hopefully when we fix this issue you have brought to our attention, others will benefit!

See.  I knew it was you and not us. :smileywink:

Seriously, we should have caught that before and actually had one of our friends within the walls of Comcast that caught that for us a few days before you did.  The good news is that the two of you taking the time to get us the feedback means that we got it in time for the code update that just dropped an hour or so ago.  Shouldn't be a problem anymore.

Also, if you are a twitter user, check out our Fun & Games section.  If you aren't a twitter user, go out and get an account at twitter.com and then come back and enjoy it from our mobile portal!

Thanks again for helping us out.  Keep us posted on any other issues or ideas you have.

I have an LG phone with verizon service, and I tried using the comcast email on it when you started the beta site, then today with the m.comcast.net. Both times it would come up with a login error. I rechecked several times the letters and numbers I was putting in and they all look right. Any suggestions?

Sorry for the troubles you are having.  Could you please browse to http://m.comcast.net and try it using your PC browser, just to make sure you are not having any keyboard-related issues on your LG phone?

Thank you.

Sent messages don't show up in comcast.net sent folder

I recently started using m.comcast.net and it works really well, but when I send a message using my phone, the sent mail does not appear in my sent mailbox on the normal comcast.net site.  Is this supposed to happen.  Anyone else sharing this same problem?

At this time, we do not support copying outbound emails from the mobile portal to your sent mail box.  We are always looking into ways to make your experience better, so thank you for sharing your desire to see that feature included in a future release.

At this point, I guess I would ask if you would feel comfortable changing your password (using the standard webmail interface) temporarily to something that is easier to type on a cell phone handset.  Please ensure that after you test your new password using webmail, then the mobile portal (hopefully successfully), you tell us about your experience.  Of course, please ensure that your password is still something difficult to guess and, after you test the new one, if you feel better about changing it back immediately to your old one, please do so.  Just want to make sure we don't sacrifice good password protection for too long.

Re: Welcome to the Comcast Mobile Portal Forum

Just found the new link to the mobile site.  I knew there had to be one since the "lite" website email access was taken off.  From the lite email site, I couldn't manage my emails, just read (I have a Treo 700p/Verizon).  Now I can...Yeah.  My only concern is that now that I have logged in to my email account, my Treo "remembers" my login info  and doesn't ask to me log in any more.  I know there are times when this will be very convenient to me but I like the security step of logging in every time like I used to on the lite website.  I couldn't find anywhere where I could change this option.  Please advise.

Re: Welcome to the Comcast Mobile Portal Forum

The email inbox page has an option 'change user'. When you select this option you will be signed out and your username and password will not be remembered (until you sign in again).

The 'change user' selection will take you back to the sign in page, but you don't need to sign in, you can select the 'Comcast Mobile Main menu' option to go back to the main menu.

Hope this helps.

I noticed you were able to log in from your computer. Does your phone automatically insert an upper case letter for the first character of what you type. Passwords are case sensitive and if your phone is changing the first character of your password to upper case when your password uses lower case characters, you are trying to log in with an incorrect password.

Re: Welcome to the Comcast Mobile Portal Forum

I'm using a Motorola Q with Verizon.
Here are my comments:

The site came up right away and was easy to access.  Not a lot of features yet.  Email is very basic.
Had trouble sending email.  I had to log out and back in to finally send email.
New messages do not show up without having to go out of that page and go back in.  The Q does not have (that I know of) a quick way to do a refresh.
All my messages are showing as unread and there is no way to do a bulk "mark as read".

Bottom line:  THANK YOU!  I like having this service!

Sorry for the trouble you are having.  In order to test the issue, would you mind trying to log into the m.comcast.net site using your PC browser?  If you are able to log into the email application using your PC browser, then you SHOULD be able to do it with your mobile phone and that will lead me to believe that you are having some kind of keyboard entry issue on your username or password.

Still, let's not cross that bridge until you can confirm you are able to get into the email application with your PC browser (any of them should work equally well).

I am able to login to m.comcast.net on my PC without any problem. Could the issue be with the Blackberry? It's a work issued Blackberry with the phone disabled, except for 911.

Can you browse to other pages on the internet using your blackberry? http://m.comcast.net is just a web page.

Re: Welcome to the Comcast Mobile Portal Forum

Yes. There was no problem bringing up the weather site, etc. It's just getting into the email that has me stumped. We tried numerous times to enter the passwords in different ways, etc. to no avail. My next idea was to change my password to something simple with the first letter being capitalized. However, the Blackberry does not automatically capitalize the first letter of a sentence so I don't think this is the issue.

Re: Welcome to the Comcast Mobile Portal Forum

Give it a try, just to make sure.  If you are able to log in using your PC, then it COULD be a Blackberry problem, but a large number of Blackberry users are already using the site, so I am guessing there is something else at play.  Hopefully you can eliminate the password issue for us as a culprit to the problems you are having.
