I just switched my homepage to MSN, where I don't HAVE to watch political ads before I can see a video.

About your only option.  I switched mine some nine years back, when it became obvious that even when Comcast representatives were asking what we wanted in a home page, they were ignoring the responses.

I've been using about:blank as my home page for decades. Never had a complaint about too many ads there.

Decades?

Yes, I've been on the Internet since it was created in the early 80's (and when I was in college I started using the Arpanet in 1980). And in the early 90's, when the world wide web was created, I was working at a company with an Internet connection, and we started creating our own web pages. That's two decades ago.

I've always used a blank window as my start page.
