Do you think Comcast realizes that its advertising plan is
backfiring? I will never buy their security system or even consider
it instead of a competitor because they keep giving me an ad page
before I can get to my emails.

You can block ads in your browser, depending on which browser you use. I use Firefox and have the Ad Blocker Plus Add on installed- No ads. Also, some ads can be blocked by opting out of certain ads.

Rog-
Some people use the Comcast homepage to access their XfinityConnect email.
Signing up for the Home security with Comcast is an individual's choice, if you choose not to have it- fine, but why knock it for those that do?

does anyone know a trick for a link to go directly to the e-mail box after signing in while avoiding the horrid Comcast home page?
12-05-2012 09:58 PM
Nope, not any more. As soon as someone finds a way, Comcast finds a way to block it.
You might want to consider using a real email client instead... Free email programs include: Windows Live mail, Thunderbird, GMail. Your email goes directly to your PC... and NO ads either.

While I use Outlook on my main laptop, I don't on my "travel pc," and access email from it using the web. Since it is a private computer, I have selected the "keep me logged in" on the Comcast login page, and have put a link to the email folder on my favorites bar. I click it and go straight to email.

Today - Comcast has allowed an advertiser to place a flashing colored message in the bottom left corner of the mailbox screen. All, it say is "Computer Alerts". When you click it, you get a message saying there's a problem with your computer and would you like to buy a solution.
My message said I had an Outlook problem, but I don't even use Outlook.
I can see a lot of gullible people being duped by this scam!

My son fell for one of those once....it downloaded malware to his laptop and messed it up to the point I had to scrub and reload it from scratch.
