With the proliferation of handheld devices, especially tablets, Comcast continues to develop more ways Xfinity TV customers can watch their favorite shows and movies on their terms. Today, Comcast is offering customers yet another choice as we begin to roll out AnyPlay™, a device which enables live TV on a variety of Internet-enabled displays in the home.
With AnyPlay, you can watch the channels that are included in your linear channel subscription through the Xfinity TV app on the iPad®, and very soon the Motorola Xoom™ tablet. This means that while someone else watches a program in the living room, for example, you can watch another show on your iPad from the backyard deck, kitchen or other places around the home.
Here's how it works...the AnyPlay device works the same as any other set top box in the home, but instead of delivering the incoming channel lineup to a television, AnyPlay delivers the lineup to the Wi-Fi router on the home network. The router then distributes the secure video signal to the iPad or Xoom over your home's wireless network. So as long as your tablet is within range of the home wireless router, you can turn it into another television screen.
Currently, we're making AnyPlay available to Xfinity HD Triple Play customers in areas of Denver and Nashville at no additional charge. If you don't live in Nashville or Denver, don't worry, as we plan to add more markets in the coming months. And while AnyPlay is for around-the-home viewing, the Xfinity TV app offers 8,000 hours of On Demand movies and TV shows that can be watched for free, both inside and outside of the home. Soon, we'll be bringing On Demand content to even more devices, such as the Xbox 360 and Samsung connected TVs. Together with AnyPlay , these are all examples of how we're adding more value to your Xfinity TV experience and giving you more ways to discover and watch the content you love in more places, on more devices.

As a general update, in addition to all iPads running iOS 4,3 or later, the following Android devices (running Honeycomb or ICS OS) are compatible with AnyPlay:
• Motorola Xoom
• Motorola Xoom2
• Samsung Galaxy 1800
• Samsung Galaxy 10.1
• Samsung Galaxy 8.9
• Samsung Galaxy 7
AnyPlay is scheduled to be available in additional Comcast areas in July including the following areas:
AR, CA (San Francisco Area), CO, GA, IL, IN, KY, LA, NM, MI, OR, SC, TN and WA

ACTION REQUIRED FOR CURRENT ANYPLAY CUSTOMERS
In order to better serve you and provide more timely updates to your AnyPlay service in the future, Comcast is introducing a new Xfinity AnyPlay app.
Effective April 15, 2013, you will need to manage your AnyPlay device exclusively with this new app. The existing Xfinity TV app will no longer manage your AnyPlay device. The new app is available now via the Apple Store or Android Play Store. Just look for Xfinity AnyPlay, download the free app and you are ready to go.
Remember, in order to keep your AnyPlay service providing the ease and convenience of viewing live TV around your home on your tablet or smartphone, you’ll need to convert to the new Xfinity AnyPlay app by April 15.
If you have already downloaded the Xfinity AnyPlay app, no further action is required at this time.

Sales of AnyPlay Discontinued
As part of our ongoing effort to evaluate our product offerings, we have decided to discontinue sales of AnyPlay, effective January 13.
Customers may continue to download and use the XFINITY AnyPlay app through March 31, but they will see the following message when attempting to download it through the Google Play or iTunes App stores:
“Effective March 31st, 2014 Comcast has decided to discontinue our AnyPlay service. Since launching the AnyPlay service in 2012, we have developed new, innovative technologies that provide customers with more choices and flexibility for streaming live and On Demand programming without the need for additional equipment. Please download the XFINITY TV Go app."
Existing AnyPlay customers will be contacted directly via e-mail with additional details.
For all of our video customers. we recommend you download the free XFINITY TV Go app which allows you to watch 35 live channels and more than 25,000 On Demand choices from anywhere with a WiFi connection.
You can also watch live TV and On Demand programs on your computer or laptop at xfinitytv.com.
