Hello,
I am getting an Error Message 3050. I am trying to watch Crazy, Stupid, Love on HBO and it only get through about 5 minutes of the movie. Stops and then gives me this error message. I already unistalled Microsoft Silverlight and then re installed it. But I'm still having the same problem. Your help is greatly appreciated.

I'm still getting this error whie trying to watch True Blood.. Not too happy as I pay so much for this Comcast service..
06-20-2012 10:00 PM
This is a load of JUNK!!! I have been recieving this error on every show i try to watch on Hob online. This has been happening for the last 4 days and im sick and tired of not seeing any results. Espically when I click on the learn more button and it takes me to no where. This is a terriable service and I am utterly upset with the lack of techinal support your company has delievered so far with a solution to the problem. None of the bogus solutions that Joe post do anything to fix the problem and only cuase Comcast uses to waste time getting no where. I would expect a credit on my bill this month for the loophole you have put me threw while trying to enjoy my expensive addon for HBO!!! Thank you.. if this is not resoulved I will be dropping my service!

Hello All-I ran into a similar problem while watching Dances with wolves. I received the same error 3050.Microsoft support forum suggested that I delete/reinstall Silverlight 5. I performed this task and returned to the movie and a message stated that I would be able to watch the movie once I installed Silverlight 5. I reinstalled Silverlight 5 and I was able to continue watching the movie. I hope this will correct your problem. You will have to search for Silverlight 5 on Microsoft's Support website.
06-21-2012 12:21 AM
error 3050 came up when I played the video about ten minutes in. I refeshed the page and clicked resume but it keeps happening. I even quit my browser and nothing works.
thanks
06-21-2012 12:23 AM
Hi Wardell1: glad that worked for you, but.....if experience proves true....it will fail on you again soon. Comcast has a big problem but is either incapable or unwilling to address it with an actual technical fix. I hope your fix holds, but I just thought it'd be better if you didn't have unrealistic high hopes
06-21-2012 12:36 AM
For all you trying to watch HBO shows just go to hbogo.com they use flash and have no problems. Silverlight sucks and so does this vidoe player that xfinity has going. It was kinda interesting when at&t stopped and knocked on my door today. I signed up.
06-21-2012 06:13 AM
The temp fix for error message 3050 that is recommended by Comcast does not always work. With some movies it is impossible to skip forward past the problem. The movie continues to end at the same spot regardless of refreshing and resuming. With other movies, the error message occurs so frequently that it simply not worth the effort to continue attempting to watch via xfinity. Comcast has an inferior product and it appears that they do not have the technical ability to remedy this recurring problem. Do not waste your time trying other browsers, uninstalling and reinstalling Silverlight, etc. Customer Service will be of no help what so ever. You will just end up wasting time and getting more and more frustrated. Bottom line is xfinity is only capable of streaming a problem free movie or TV program about 20% of the time, in my experience.

Error 3050, seriously? All online content is failing with no real resolution in sight.
- Don't try using another browsers, cause I've tried them all.
- Don't reinstall silver light, cause I've done that several times over.
- Don't reinstall adobe flashplayer, cause I've done that several times too.
- Don't disable your system firewall or security suite as suggested by a comcast tech... that's all sorts of fail.
- Fast forwarding is only available with some online content, but the heart ache doesn't end there because you have to endure more crappy commercials to find you need to skip forward some more.
- I tried both my pc and mac for S&G... Failure on both.
This is an issue with the service or else, why post an actual error code (3050)? Apparently this is the Comcast version of the blue screen of death and we're to use the Microsoft fix all - reboot. When are we going to get some real root cause analysis done? Let me start you guys off since the issue seems recent, how about going back to the first reported incident and determine what exactly changed. Then in your DEV environment revert back to before the issue started and see if its fixed.
The idea we keep going on like this only pushes me towards changing service.

Comcast xfinity streeming is a joke.....its not working atleast comcast dont have the technological know how to make it work...
they cant give a reason for the issue for 2 weeks now.....what are they doing sleeping???
go to hbogo.com for hbo stuff and for tnt.com or cbs.com or to hulu.com to watch without an issue.....
now i wonder why i kept paying $200 month for past 2 years for this bunch or loosers....
verizon here i come.....

Hello All-I installed Silverlight 5 and my problem was corrected.INstead of ranting,I suggest that you do the same.Go to Microsoft Support and search for Silverlight5.
06-22-2012 12:38 AM
Hello All-Go to Microsoft Support and search for Silerverlight5.Install it. I had the same problem and Silverlight5 corrected my same problem.
06-22-2012 01:06 AM
Wardell: as I commented earlier, this is lucky for you that the silverlight reinstall helped. For 95% of us, the silverlight "might seem to work", but it's just a bandaid. Comcast has a serious problem. They are like Microsoft...you'd think they would be on the leading edge, but oh no....what they're hoping for is a user/brainiac who will solve this issue for them. They are smart enough to know that those of us who rant and threaten to cancel service won't do it because it's too much trouble. Don't know what the world's coming to, but when you pay $200 plus a month AND THINGS DON'T WORK, that's become the norm. Let's say it like it is....Comcast streaming is GARBAGE. Second only to their customer service!
06-22-2012 01:30 AM
Hello Turdus-I better understand your problem and I will have to eat crow on this one.
06-22-2012 01:43 AM
Wardell: no, no....don 't mean to come off as arrogant to make you feel that way. I'm just thinking that things may work out for you, but I just don't have high hopes. Best of luck to you. Happy Trails and Happy Viewing

Another user posted something similar, and I think it may be worth a try ON COMCAST'S SIDE...
For each server participating in XFINITY streaming:
Check the event log for the following message:
Symptoms
Wowza log: nothing! (on normal logging level)
In the Windows Eventlog, there were events:
Source: Kernel-General
Message: The system time has changed to 2012-01-31T12:41:50.230000000Z from 2012-01-31T12:41:50.225329500Z.
If the log exists, try the following (somewhat vague) solution:

Disable changing system time
Switch off / Reconfigure services:
- “Net time” monitoring tool
- “Windows time”

Hi all,
We’ve identified the source of the issue and are working rapidly to replace all affected videos. Some of the affected videos have already been replaced, so if you were having an issue, please try the video again. Some customers will see positive results sooner than others and we will let you know when all videos have been fixed.
We understand how frustrating this has been for our customers and are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. Our team has been working tirelessly to identify the source of the error, which turned out to be particularly difficult to locate. We truly appreciate your patience.
NOTE: I am going to mark this post as a solution even though the issue is not resolved yet. Why? It seems like customers are finding this thread and not seeing this message. Thank you for your understanding.

This Error 3050 is way outta hand. How have you not been able to solve this issue. If I couldn't solve a problem at work I'd be fired....period..It's ridiculous this problem has not yet been solved.

I had the error 3050 on a number of shows - Girls. Rizzoli and Isles (first two episodes of this season). I unistalled and reinstalled Microsoft Silverlight yesterday but the problem persists. Even when I try to skip over the stopping point, it won't work.

So, Do you need us to tell you which videos are corrupt?
Shouldn't there be a systemwide fix for this problem? And yes I've reinstalled silverlight and am still getting the error 3050 on certain videos. And yes the problem happens at the same point in the movie and I restart it and skip that section on my next attempt to watch it.
06-23-2012 08:26 AM
Just about every video, i have tried in the last week and half.... which is approximately 50 different movies and tv shows

Hi,
My name is Andy and I'm an Operations Director at Comcast (no flames, please
). I wanted to provide a little commentary here as I worked directly with our technical teams in addressing this issue
.
As ComcasJoe has already mentioned in this thread, we were working tirelessly to try to resolve what we knew was a particularly nasty issue, and far from a perfect experience for our customers. While the investigation/resolution did take longer than we would have liked, we did indeed find the source of the problem and have since corrected it.
Now, the bad news is that to permanently fix this 3050 error, every single asset in our library (thousands of video titles) needs to be re-encoded to ensure it is error-free. This takes time. We are doing our best to focus on new and popular content, but obviously there is no way to anticipate what our customers are interested in viewing in a given moment.
That said, we are well on our way, but there are many more videos to work through before we can call this issued completely resolved. In the meantime, we sincerely hope that the experience is improving and all we can do is request your continued patience as we work on restoring the balance of our library.
Thank you.

Thank you for your information acraigl. Hopefully that will be helpful to those experiencing this issue.
Are you aware that Comcast employees must be authorized to post in the forum? When authorized they will have their names in RED and be designated as such.
In the past non-authorized employees have posted and asked for account information. Without being a designated employee there is no way for someone to tell if the person IS an employee or someone up to no good.
While you are certainly not asking for account info, the rule applies to ALL employees. Some things need to be posted by employees and being labeled as on makes the information more credible.
Comcast employees must be authorized to post in the forum in an official capacity. Employees posting here have their names in red and are designated as employees. Names not in red are customers.

6/23/12 The Wire ep 4 about 1/5 from end, skipped past one error 3050 point only to get another one a minute later. How long, generally, will this take to fix? Making fixes episode by episode seems like an endless task.
06-23-2012 04:56 PM
This is so lame, had this happen to me watching all seasons of True Blood so I just went to HBOGo instead. But now I am trying to watch Spartacus season 1 02 and its doing this again. If anyone knows somewhere else to watch Spartacus that would be great
06-23-2012 11:10 PM
I continue to get the Error Code 3050 when i try to watch episodes of Entourage. thought it might be just that show, could not watch The Sopranos or Veep either. Has been going on for almost 3 weeks now.

No matter what video I select in the 'Online' category, it freezes before the video makes it half way. Usually the following message is displayed.....
This video cannot be played.
Sorry, this video is currently unavailable. (Error 3050)
Please check back soon.
According to ComcastJoe (an admin), the problem has been identified and is being worked on (dated 6/22 message # 236).
My question is the ETA of putting this to bed, and I think it would be appropriate if Comcast/Xfinity notified us on this thread when everything regarding this matter has been resolved. Thank You

I was getting this error on a few episodes of The Ricky Gervais Show.
VERY frustrating... especially since it feels like they up my bill every single month.
I do not feel as though I am getting my moneys worth for this service. Its not just Xfinity TV either, my modem keeps restarting, cable boxes glitch up, the sound on the TV goes away from 1 to 2 seconds every 5 minutes or so... the box will just randomly restart at all hours of the day and night, and its not quiet when it does it either, it has to spin the harddrive so fast that it freakin whines, VERY frustrating when you are trying to sleep in the same room as a DVR.
My Comcast DVR is by far and large the noisest thing in my house when its just sitting there doing nothing. Its always clicking and spinning and stuff, even when I have it switched off.
Its a shame I can't cuss and swear on here... otherwise this post would appear a LOT angrier to reflect my true rage.
To be 100% honest, I ripped my modem out of the wall when it reset for the 1000th time that day for no apparant reason other than Comcast wants me to commit suicide. I drove up to their little kiosk building here and was sitting in my car, just mad as a boiling mouse... I was going to throw the modem through their front plate-glass window... basically as a sign that I friggin quit their worthless, frustrating service. No amount of TV or internet is worth a brain aneurysm. I'd rather sit in jail for vandalism against a Comcast store than deal with this frustrating, broken, constantly failing service. Luckily for them my phone rang and I had to go handle something more pressing, but those comcast employees almost got a nasty wake-up call.
Yes... I have anger problems.

I would like to report this problem on A-Team also

argh. I have been watching fright night and its half way through and I get the error 3050. This has happened more often lately then it seems it should. It took me 3 times and probably 2 months to get through bad teacher. And before true blood started I wanted to marathon old episodes and every other one did the same error.
Why?!?!?!?!?! So annoyed right now. I mine aswell watch movies on netflix or stream them for free. Even if they the free illegal ones are bad quality I get to see the whole thing!!

C'mon, Joe. It's now July 23, and I'm trying to watch Breaking Bad 502, a brand new episode. And I still get Error 3050. How could this have been encoded incorrectly a month after you discovered what the problem was? Are you still encoding even new material incorrectly? You need to try harder!!
07-24-2012 08:11 AM
no they lie to get ppl off there backs and then clame it was a diff problem this time or somthing else caused it if the ppl there are anything like the ( tecs ) they send to your home i want to know what kind of schooling they have have to do what they do some of the tecs i have had here a trained monkey could have done there job they clame they have found the trouble ther fix is ignore it it will goaway

This is crazy. I just got another error on The Wire season 1 eps. 12. I love how they took down most of the boards on this topic so other people wouldn't see the CONSISTENT problems.
This is a huge problem and they are acting like its nothing and it will get fixed soon. BUT now it has been over a month when they said this would be taken care of weeks ago. It really shows they are trying to sweep this problem and the customers under the rug so perspective customers wont see it. When they took all the people complaining down, they posted a "solution" to this problem but of course it is still not fixed. This has ruined so many movies and shows for myself.
COMCAST=POOR TECH SUPPORT BUT MOST OF ALL HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, by telling us these 'lies.'
How about this, give the customers some actually customer support and maybe you wont have everyone jumping down your neck when a problem happens? Oh wait, theres tech problems with almost every service....................... opps
Sincerely,
Irritate Comcast Customer
