Log into Xfinity app on XBOX with primary id. Then just search for an HBO TV Show. I just did it and we're watching True Blood on HBO via the Xfinity App. It's just embeded in the Xfinity App for xbox.
03-27-2012 10:42 PM
I may not have been able to acess the HBO GO app on Xbox but at least it gave me a large list of providers I can choose from when I cancel my service with Xfinity.
03-27-2012 10:45 PM
I am repeating what has already been said, but enough is enough Comcast. HBO GO is rich with content, xfinity app is very weak indeed. I can watch HBO GO on my tablet, computer and phone but not my TV??? I do not understand it,my phone, tablet and computer still uses the data plan from my house.... the tv would not use more data.. I pay a monthly fee to access HBO content... what BS.. I am hoping someone FB and makes this point viral and we get some numbers behind us. Comcast needs a little smack down by the monthly consumers who demand HBO GO access by way of smart tvs and xboxs.
03-27-2012 11:00 PM
the content in the Xfinity app is limited to the ondemand content Comcast offers, which is a fraction of what HBO Go offers.
03-27-2012 11:06 PM
Only a fraction of the content on the Xfinity app.
I want all seasons of The Wire
03-27-2012 11:07 PM
Please add me to the list of people wanting to request this. I was initially excited today about the xfinity app, but extremely let down about the HBO GO app. If I had to pick one or the other, I'd go with HBO since they have content I can't get from my cable box. I was recent;y talked into trying comcast again after 6 years. I will leave.
03-27-2012 11:18 PM
I would like hbo go on my xbox 360?
how could i get it going?
03-27-2012 11:22 PM
While voicing distaste with Comcasts foolish decisions here may reach some board moderators, filing complaints with the FCC may go a little further in getting more attention at Comcast.
Surprisingly, they do respond to FCC complaints.
03-27-2012 11:26 PM
The HBO Go app came out for the Xbox, and despite being able to use HBO Go on iOS and on my computer, this app does not have the Xfinity logo in its list of available providers. As a subscriber to both Xfinity and HBO, that's ridiculous that Comcast is not on board.
03-27-2012 11:29 PM
Drop Comcast and get another provider, as Comcast is going to refuse to offer HBO Go access on the 360.
03-27-2012 11:31 PM
+1 Does anyone know which providers I can switch to that have the HBO Go app?
03-27-2012 11:41 PM - edited 03-27-2012 11:42 PM
Elwood123: Basically anyone but TimeWarner cable and Comcast. They are the only two that DON'T allow HBO Go. Everyone else does.
03-27-2012 11:57 PM
Joe, I think you miss the point. The problem is that you are NOT working with your content providers. Obviously the infrastructure in in place, because I can use my Comcast login to access HBO GO on my phone and my tablet - even over your network. I often defend Comcast, primarily because of the quality of internet service, but this is incredible dense as far as decisions go.
The Xfinity service sucks. It has no real value to the customer. It offers some episodes of some seasons of some shows on many networks. That doesn't really equate to anything. If I could get HBO GO directly from HBO, I'd drop Comcast like a hot potato these days - HBO GO, Netflix, and Hulu give me all the TV I need or want.
03-28-2012 12:03 AM
It makes no sense. I saw one online post saying Comcast want's to block HBOGO from any device that could be connected to a TV. Why? I'm already paying Comcast for the Xfinity TV/Internet service, and my HBO subscription. I can watch HBOGO on my labtop (Which I will just connect to my TV anyway if I can't watch it on the Xbox), my phone, and my tablet (which I can also connect to my TV). I just don't get it. The Xfinity app in its current state is abosolutley WORTHLESS. It is nothing but a scaled DOWN version of the on demand access that I already have outside of the Xbox. I don't understand it at all.
03-28-2012 12:07 AM
03-28-2012 12:08 AM
It's ridiculous, right? I've been using my iPad to stream HBO GO to my TV via HDMI for months. I thought this would be more convenient. Comcast thought otherwise.
03-28-2012 12:12 AM
If this is part of their customer guaruntee, does this HBO GO XBOX issue provide grounds for refunds?

You can access HBOGO online through comcast but not through xbox?
Directtv has it for xbox, verizon, att, dish and many more but not comcast.. Thats amazing.
Thats one thing I was looking forward to.
03-28-2012 12:33 AM
It is really becoming difficult to pay for Comcast services each month when you treat your customers this way. We pay exorbitant rates for Comcast Cable, an extra charge for HBO and yet you block us from HBO's content on both the Roku device and now the Xbox device. You may have been able to screw over customers for the past fifty years, but the tide is turning. Now there are quite a few competitors out there that are actually dedicated to making their customer happy. If you guys don't make a complete 180 degree turnaround soon, you can say "hello" to rapidly dropping profits. You're already below the IRS in customer satisfaction.
How low can ya go?
03-28-2012 12:46 AM
I have been waiting for months for the HBO app to be available on the Xbox 360, and to find that I cannot use the HBO app and am forced through an inferior product, is abhorrent and unacceptable behavior. I am able to use the HBO GO app on the web without issue, with no complaints from Comcast.
I will be filing a formal complaint with the FCC over this, as this is an unfair practice of forcing someone into using a product when they don't have to.
To add insult to injury, even if I try to register my device with the Comcast Xfinity app, it continually tells me they are unable to activate Xfinity TV on my device. What a joke.
03-28-2012 01:05 AM
I just chatted with a rep, and this is what I was told:
------
Forrest: When can I expect to be able to access HBO Go (or at least the same content via the Xfinity app) on my Xbox?
RicahMaeAura: XFINITY® TV Service via XBox has also been released today that is why we are still making improvements to have all applications working via your game console.
Forrest: So I can expect the HBO Go app to be available to me on the Xbox in the near future?
RicahMaeAura: Yes, that is correct! You can also call 877-599-1846 as to when the HBO Go application be available on your gaming console.
-------
I don't know if that's a general number I was given or what - when I called it, I got a message about 'higher than expected call volume' and that I would have to wait 10 minutes. At any rate, unless they've taken to outright lying, HBO Go capability may be coming soon to Xbox for Comcast subscribers.
03-28-2012 01:09 AM
I'm guessing the rep was confused. There's thousands of people who work for Comcast, they probably meant through the Xfinity app.
03-28-2012 01:16 AM - edited 03-28-2012 01:17 AM
Well, I made explicit mention of the Xfinity app not being comparable to HBO Go earlier in the conversation.
I'm not sure how much more clear it can be than asking if it will be available to me, and being told yes.
To any comcast employees reviewing this thread, if this information is incorrect, please say so. And if so, please make sure your reps are educated regarding this subject, as incorrect information like this is just salt in the wound.

03-28-2012 07:50 AM - edited 03-28-2012 07:54 AM
Xepherys quote sums up my feelings on this outcome. I was very much looking forward to the HBO Go app since Christmas. I feel as a consumer I'm getting less content than the HBO subscription allows. I'm quite disappointed in this turn of events and I too will be researching options and actions if this is not addressed. I stuck with Comcast even when they started limiting bandwidth usage. This I can not forgive and I too will be looking into FCC action or changing services altogether. I stuck with Comcast for over 30 years of service but, this is a game changer for my family. Verizon will be coming to my area very soon and I will be looking closely at that option if, this stance is not changed.
Thanks a VERY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER
P.S. the Xfinity app. on 360 is very nice but, it's full of bugs and isn't working correctly for my household, FIX YOUR PROBLEMS OR I'LL TAKE ACTION SOONER THEN LATER!!! The only silver lining for the Xfinity App. is we don't have you use your dinosaur of a conversion box!
03-28-2012 08:10 AM - edited 03-28-2012 08:10 AM
They don't support HBO GO on any platform. Comcast has their own content delivery system and likely views HBO GO as competition. The company has made no official comments about HBO GO.

I called the number and spoke to a rep. He didn't have much to add but, I just found this online can anyone check this out for the board and post a update?

Hi all, I've received an update that Comcast and HBO are in discussions to increase HBOGO access for our customers. There's no ETA on this, but we'll post as we know more. Please follow this thread for updates.

Yes. and the xfinity one allows only one season of HBO content while HBOGO allows for ALL seasons of HBO content. Xfinity is the worst service out there.

Sooner rather than later would be good. I know myself and others will be looking into Direct TV and other options ASAP over this issue!
03-28-2012 09:14 AM
Lame! This is why HBO should let you pay for their content online regardless of your provider.
03-28-2012 09:46 AM
I agree. They support it on the iOS. Support it on the the XBOX. I know that they don't support HDMI out on the iOS, which is quite annoying.
03-28-2012 09:47 AM
I am with you guys on this one and have started the process of looking at DirecTV. I have reached my boiling point with Comcast and I am done. I have been waiting for this update for months and you can imagine my reaction when I downloaded the app yesterday and Comcast was not listed.
I have spent about an hour on the phone as well as a live chat and have gotten nowhere. When I finally got the Xfinity app to work after countless attempts I started laughing at the HBO content they provide. Of course I want to watch three random episodes of the Sopranos, thanks Comcast!
This is an absolute joke and I can't wait to see the stream of people leaving them for this. Somehow they continue to find new ways to screw over their customers.
03-28-2012 10:04 AM
Yes this is ridiculous I am a Comcast Internet user but a Directv subscriber. I don't have Xfinity cable and don't want it but yet I'm blocked by Comcast from using the HBO Go Xbox app. This is absurd! Yet another reason for me to switch to U-Verse as soon as it gets down to my street and I can't wait.
03-28-2012 10:21 AM
Thanks for posting Eric - but what is there to discuss? It has nothing to do with comcast other than finding out whether we pay for the service or not. Comcast already has this complete with mobile devices, shouldn't be hard to do this with the xbox or roku devices.
This is becoming a net neutrality issue. I pay for HBO Go and right not Comcast is BLOCKING my access to it. I have written my congressmen and strongly considering taking this to small claims court for denail of access on grounds of denial net neutrality.
I can only assume Comcast wants more money for HBO go because it is becoming a wildly popular service and it has no way to track what I am doing. Instead, they are funneling me into a Xfinity app that has a couple of episodes of Sopranos.
What am I missing here? An deeper explaination of why HBO and Comcast are in talks would go a long way. Also probably should have sent a press release before I tried to access it, seems like Comcast is the bad guy here. Please prove me wrong here.
03-28-2012 10:29 AM
But no access to *ALL* HBO content that is available on HBO GO. If I want to catch up on game of Thrones and you don't happen to have it on On demand then I can't see it even if HBO Go hasit available.
03-28-2012 10:31 AM
This is ridiculous & disappointing. It’s baffling to me that Comcast would block a service-enhancement for something we PAY THEM FOR, and would be watching on the internet we PAY THEM FOR. I was really looking forward to going back and re-watching all of the old episodes some of my favorite HBO series. Something we CAN’T do through OnDemand or the Xfinity app. HBO is the only premium channel I currently have. I can’t think of any reason why I should stick with Comcast when I could switch to another provider, pay the same amount for HBO, AND ALSO get every episode of every HBO series I want to watch PLUS access to all their streaming movies & other content! I’ve been a paying Comcast customer for as long as I’ve been old enough to pay for TV, and for once I can see a clear and distinct value in switching to another provider.
03-28-2012 10:38 AM
I have been fighting with thema bout the Roku issue for months. Welcome to my world.
03-28-2012 10:48 AM
We appreciate the update Eric. Nice to hear you guys are listening!
03-28-2012 11:14 AM
Agree with the sentiments here. Was looking forward to getting two things out of this app:
1. The Xfinity online cataolog (which is substantially larger than what's available via set-top box)
2. HBO Go's full library of past seasons
Right now the app only mirrors the exact same content availabe through set-top box on demand, so needless to say I'm disappointed on both accounts. And left wondering, "What's the point?"
To be heard, however, I think we need to be smarter about how we voice our displeasure. Need to bomb Comcast/Xfinity's Facebook page and twitter handles with one simple message: "Comcast: Give us HBOGO on XBOX now!." Someone might also consider creating a facebook page and twitter handle to push the same message and encourage aggressive "liking" and re-tweeting. Also need to bring this to the attention of the reporters who covered the launch to get follow-up stories posted. More creative still would be the creation of a deadline and doomsday clock by when we want to see action, or experience a mass exodos on the same day.
If you can get it to trend, you'll see action. It worked against BofA on checking and ATM fees. Hope someone feels inspired to take on the challenge. And no, the irony isn't lost on me that I've just described how to organize a corporate campaign on Comcast's own website (wonder what my cable bill will look like next month).
03-28-2012 11:22 AM
Hit their Facebook wall hard! Also, if you have any friends in the media, try to get them to do a short piece on it, under the guise of Comcast's increasing troubles with Net Neutrality. The more bad PR that Comcast gets about this, the more likely they are to about-face and allow us access to HBO Go on ALL devices.
03-28-2012 11:45 AM
Hi all,
Comcast and HBO are in discussions to increase HBOGO access for our customers. As of right now, I have no further information. Once I learn more, I will update this thread.

Good. There really should only be one outcome. Full access to HBO GO App.
Wonder how long these "discussions" will linger on. Any idea?
03-28-2012 01:47 PM
This has to be the most ridiculous thing I have ever read. So I can get HBO Go on my iPhone and Tablet and various PC's but one of the nations largest TV and Internet Providers is blocking HBO Go on the Xbox and other devices in favor of their Xfinity app which has such paltry offerings compared to the HBO Go app (I checked) makes absolutely no sense at all. You'd think this would be a WIN WIN for both Comcast and HBO but instead leave it up to Comcast to screw this up royally. HBO allows some of the *smallest* Cable and internet providers access and Comcast isnt Included? Seriously look at the list...
AT&T U-verse, COX(Beta), DIRECTV(Puerto Rico),Mediacom.(Beta), RCN(Beta), Verizon, Charter, DIRECTTV, Dish, Optimum, Suddenlink, WOW, BendBroadband, Grande Communications, HTC Digital Cable, Midcontinent Comm(Beta), Blue Ridge Communications, HBO Employee/Guest, Massillon Cable/Clear Picture
If you think this isn't some sort of buearcratic Comcast restriction then I dont know what is.
I'm seriusly looking into U-verse as I type.

Been waiting for this update for a while.
Few months ago I was told by a Comcast rep that they had denied HBO Go access on Roku due to them having an exclusive agreement with MS to offer HBO Go on Xbox. After the HBO Go app was released on Xbox yesterday, we all got shafted by Comcast.
Bottom line: Comcast wants to be in control and force you to use their XFINITY app, even though it doesn't have the content of HBO Go.
Going to AT&T.
Also going to file complaints with the BBB & FCC.
