Re: Xbox HBO Go blocked?

Ten years as a customer, never a delinquent payment, and just spent 1.5 hours with three reps this morning dealing with this issue.  Their solution, $10 off my monthly bill.  No thanks.  Shame on Comcast for treating its customers like a check instead of a person.  Goodbye Comcast, hello AT&T.

Unfortunately, you do.  The CEOs at companies like this have a short-term financial perspective that centers around stuffing their pockets.  They could care less about what their customers want, which definitely isn't the same rehashed On-Demand content.  Besides, most of them who run companies into the ground still get a pretty sweet $everance.

Re: Xbox HBO Go blocked?

I was so excited when HBOGo was finally released on Xbox that I immediately downloaded it as soon as it came out. At first, I thought that maybe they didn't have Comcast listed as a mistake, so I patiently waited for a couple days to see if there would be any update to the list. Unfortunately it seems as though I'll be waiting much longer to see any support. My contract ends next month and don't think for a second that I'll hesitate switching to another provider. For the record, I have Comcast internet, phone, and cable, all three have been nothing but a headache the last few months. It'll make it so much easier to say goodbye with this going on.

Re: HBO GO Not Available on XBOX !!

i agree completely.  hbo go far surpasses the hbo on demand service in every way.  and this does not even go to the fact that xbox and comcast both agreed to launch a horribly buggy app for the xbox.  it took 3 days for me to be able to log in and when i finally could, "the server was down."

seriously thinking of switching services to directv.

Hello,

I am just voicing my opinion like all you other comcast/xfinity customers about hbo go on the xbox. Your decision on blocking is very bad I am thinking of droping your service and going to another provider if you dont allow this service.

They are also blocking HBO Go through Roku too. So now I have two devices that can't get HBO Go because Comcast doesn't want it's customers to have choice.

Well, good going, Comcast. I canceled your cable TV service a few months back, but when it was announced that HBO Go would soon be available on the Xbox 360, it made me reconsider my decision. I was skeptical Comcast would pull some BS like this though, considering they are one of the few cable companies who still block the Showtime and Cinemax apps and have been dragging their feet with allowing access to the WatchESPN apps, not to mention blocking HBO Go on the Roku. I'm glad I didn't sign back up, this is pure nonsense and Comcast is only hurting itself with this absurd decision. Comcast is choosing to stubbornly cling to its outdated model of operation while other cable companies are leaving them in the dust in terms of adapting to the changing times of content delivery. The time will eventually come when all these stupid decisions will run Comcast into the ground. It looks like many customers are making the right decision and switching cable companies. I wish I had the choice to do so, but unfortunately Comcast has a monopoly in my area and is the only option. Oh well, too bad for them, even though I can't take my business elsewhere, that's still an extra $100+ a month Comcast won't be getting from me.

That is all you get every time you try to talk to one of the reps. Instead of just saying that they just don't have the correct information at this time they waste your time and leave you feeling empty.

Nicely done Comcast.  Charge everyone close to $200.00 a month for cable and internet and then block a streaming service that should come as part of our subscription to HBO.  Your Xfinity app is no substitute, the selection is worse than the B movies available on Netflix streaming.

Keep on driving your customers away.  You may not realize it, but many people in their 20s and 30s are dumping cable TV in droves since Amazon, Netflix, and Hulu provide a better selection than the 800 channels of junk you put out.  If HBO GO isn't avaiable through the XBOX within the next 2 months, I too will be joining that group.

I am also pretty bummed to find out that Comcast isn't supporting HBOGo through the 360.  I just signed up for HBO specifically for this purpose, and am now kicking myself for not downloading the app first (and of course, find that Comcast is not on the list of providers)  I sure hope they can get this straightened out soon... might be time to check out FIOS!

Re: Xbox HBO Go blocked?

I was a Verizon Fios customer for a long period of time. I was extremely excited for the fios service and internet. People complained about it alot but I never once had a problem. They always met my needs (except for the occassional router drop which only happened two times) and gave me an experience unmatched.

The sad day came when my Fiance and I found out we were moving to a location in a few months that only allowed comcast. Needless to say we went ahead and switched everything over last week as to not have to worry about it come move time.

I will also add that for months and months and months i have been waiting for the hbo go app on my xbox. Since they first announced it I could not wait. They continuoulsy pushed the date back and I continually waited patiently. I hate watching videos on my computer i bought a $900 HD tv to use it. I mostly use my computer for music and news. Although I will say I also love having the iheartradio app on the xbox as well.

When i switched I thought great the hbo go app will be released before April 1st. No break in the wait everything will work out great. The day my service was hooked up was the day the Xfinity app and hbo go app were released. I was so excited to get my back catalog experience and drive finally fulfilled until the faithful moment I realized Xfinity was not one of the providers on it. I immediately came to this forum and for the past few days have been following all the posts.

Heres the deal, I will make a solid promise that I will stick with my four local network channels that I get through My tv's built in digital convertor and Hulu and Netflix  with a lame clearwire internet service if this problem is not fixed. Your set top box browser is outdated, your dvr manager has already failed me, your program guide is extremely unsavory to say the least, and your xfinity tv iphone app is okay at best. With Verizon I could go into my dvr manager through the app with yours i cannot. Your channel guide has about 3 or 4 of the same channel in HD throughout it (maybe to seem like you have more channels) but your HD line up is skinny compared to other providers who keep it extremely loaded.

Sorry to rant on my already unhappy service throughout this thread. I will keep your service if by the time I move which is June the hbo go app on the xbox is showing comcast as a provider. If not I am going to have to say goodbye to this short lived relationship.

Another unhappy customer.

Completely unacceptable. Comcast, if you can't provide access to HBO go, at least provide the same functionality through the Xfinity app. This is ridiculous.

Re: Xbox HBO Go blocked?

Good God guys, I was just as astonished to find you are not supporting HBO GO on the Xbox as everyone else here! Brian Roberts needs to stand up and make a command decision to make this available NOW!!! I am sure everyone is like me that wants it for Game of Thrones tomorrow... I am giving you guys until tomorrow night to either make it available or to release a statement that you will have it available by next week or I am dropping my tv service for Dish Network (dish already installed just need to reactivate) Qwest hi-speed is also looking better by the minute... I have paid you guys $170 a month for years and you're still getting your cut from the HBO service but you are going to prohibit the exclusive app access???  God save you if HBO decides to offer their service a la carte in the future, they considered it in 2010 and I think with the outcry from fans of what you are doing to us today that it will help motivate that decision once again...

The balls in your court, Comcast/Xfinity time to IMPRESS ME!!!

well they took down my post that i had up this mourning bout me talking to dish net work for those of you that didnt see it they have a package that give you free hd for life free dvr that works in all rooms and it only about 160 for 200 plus channels. but the big kicker is that you can access hbo go on your xbox. i dont understand how a company could do this to paying customers and force you to download their app if you want to watch hbo on your xbox. why cut on the xbox if i got the same things on my cable box. what are they thinking its kind of unconstitutional to force people into a third party against there will  comcast. how do you treat people like this i have been a paying customer for about five years and i hate satilites but if  the satilite is not working i can always put on my xbox and watch hbo on it!

Re: Xbox HBO Go blocked?

The more I think about this the more upset it makes me I've been a happy Comcast customer last 2 years and when I first heard HBOGO was coming to xbox I thought I'm good to go because Comcast /xfinity will definitely be on the provider list! SHOCKED!! And can't get over this, you're blocking HBOGO so I'm stuck with Xfinity app that's the same thing I have on my DVR (ON DEMAND) that's sad, if this is corrected and you make yourself a provider I will stay with Comcast and I would have mad respect if you did fix this situation, I doubt you will soon, only 2 months left or so on my contract then I'll be with DIRECTTV , they promise the same services and channels for half the price and that's not a 6 month promo it's for 2 years and it includes HBOGO!!!!!

Re: Xbox HBO Go blocked?

I spent 3 hours across two days just trying to get a straight answer. Five different agents would not confirm or deny that Comcast would allow hbo go. Four of the five didn't even know what hbo go was. Last agent proceeded to insult me tell me Comcast is not like the other companies that provide hbo go Comcast tests all there products. What the does that mean? I confronted her by asking if Comcast fell asleep while every competitor got there act together and she said no. Told her Comcast was forcing its customers to use their on demand service by not offering hbo go and I was going to make a complaint to the FCC and all she did was laugh and proceed to tell me it's one application that Comcast does not offer and to pretty much just calm down. Where does this company get off? You pay this company good money for garbage service and then when you call there customer guarantee agent you get insulted. So help me I will find a alternative to Comcast if it's the last thing I do. Wow

That's an interesting idea, but I'm not sure what to complain about. HBOGO is an added service and thus far, Comcast has simply decided not to add the service. I see a lot of folks saying Comcast is "blocking" HBOGO, but the simple truth is that Comcast and HBO don't have an agreement to offer HBOGO to Comcast customers. I'm not sure if this is something that the FCC would regulate or not. Perhaps if you take the angle that Comcast is unfairly limiting competition by not allowing competing services?

I am not sure if the net neutrality law apply but that is what the FCC can decide. One can also file a formal complaint with the FCC but it costs $200. I might have to go that route.

Re: I pay for HBO. Give me HBO GO on my Xbox!!!!!

[ Edited ]

Comcast's exclusion of HBOGO on Xbox is unfair to customers who pay for HBO. Comcast is going against its policy of net neutrality by forcing its customers to go through its own app for advertising revenue, instead of allowing them to freely access HBOGO, a service for which customers pay in subscribing to HBO.

Comcast is clearly limiting how its customers access HBO content, even though they pay to access unlimited HBO content through HBOGO.

I wouldn't think this would be an FCC issue , Comcast isn't offering a service that's all, switching companies is your best bet, Direct tv has HBOGO on xbox that's where I'm going as soon as my contract is up with Comcast unless they fix this problem asap! !

Re: Xbox HBO Go blocked?

Hey Comcast Reps.  Been a few days.  Let’s sit down and have a little talk about this whole HBOGo thing. Grab a cuppa, I’ll hold on until you get back.

First, let me say I don’t blame you.  You’re a customer service representative.  I’ve been there.  The only thing you’re allowed to say is what the boys and girls in the power suits tell you to say.  At this point, though, it’s clear the “discussions” line is…well…just a line.  We’ve talked to Roku users who got the same response in November with no end result.  We’ve heard HBO imply it’s a load.  We’ve seen Comcast not respond to the exposure of the issue in the industry bible, Variety.  If it wasn’t a platitude, we’d be seeing Comcast falling all over itself to give you a new script, to assuage the fears and onslaught.  It hasn’t happened, and my time in corporate America has taught me that generally means we’re getting a polite version of “shut up and go away” from your executives.

So…let me try to explain the position here.

We’re consumers, customers who chose Comcast over competitors, and chose HBO as a premium service.  While that doesn’t, and shouldn’t, give us access to every level of corporate thought, it does give us the right to have an open and honest answer to our concerns regarding what is perceived to be a significant lack of customer consideration on behalf of Comcast.  It means we expect, and for our money deserve, to know the actuality of what is going on over there in regards to our concerns.  Not getting a line of “corporate speak” that could mean anything from “We’re working on the problem and trying to find an amenable solution, and HBOGo will definitely be available on these devices if we can reach one” to “HBO is asking us to do it, and we’re saying no.”  Which is the range now encompassed by the official company line we’ve been getting.

What’s happening here is a basic reminder:  Your company serves at the leisure of consumers who ALLOW your company to serve.  In return for our consideration in allowing Comcast into our homes, into our lives, into our families, and into our bank accounts, we expect a modicum of respect and forthrightness.  Failure to provide this is not only disrespectful to us as consumers that chose your service, but downright insulting to our collective intelligence as people, a base assumption made by your executives that “those mouth-breathers” will swallow the bitter pill and deal with it.  Don’t you, and don’t your bosses, think we deserve more as people who, when given the choice, chose Comcast?  Don’t you think it would be obvious that we expect to be treated as valuable consumers and not mere monetary units on the company projection charts at a stockholder’s meeting?

Your company won’t see an immediate impact of these decisions and platitudes, these outright lies and disrespectful responses.  Some of the people threatening to disconnect will certainly forget about it when their contracts run out.  Unfortunately…we’ll also tell our friends about it.  We’ll tweet, Facebook, blog, and otherwise generally complain.  We’ll point to the double-speak and meaningless statements, saying how all we got for our money was the same service a competitor could provide with a healthy side-helping of disrespect and belittling condescension from your executives.  Others will notice, that market share your company hopes to expand into, and they won’t sign up.  Or they’ll cancel their service contracts.  Or they’ll decide to advance the cord-cutting trend.

Times have changed since the 90’s, the time period Comcast seems to be stuck in.  We’re no longer consumers tethered to your services.  Television is a luxury that can be replaced, internet can be had with phone service from the local company.  We’ve stuck with you, remained loyal customers and friends and invited you to stick with us.  We’ve welcomed your programming and service when we didn’t have to, even as times became lean and it became more of a luxury than ever before.  We promoted your services, and crowed about our provider…and we got nothing but platitudes and disrespect in return when we asked for a real answer.  It’s simply not acceptable, and I think you, who are on the front lines of this issue, know that more than any of the stuffed shirts above you.

I know you’re with us.  I’ve seen your posts, I’ve seen your desire to help.  I know you’d tell us more if you could, even if it was just the simple truth Comcast does not now, nor at any time in the foreseeable future, plan to offer HBOGo access on the Xbox, Roku, or SamsungTV.

So why don’t you pass this on up the line, and see if they’ll let you return the respect, consideration, and loyalty that we’ve shown to your company for all this time?

I’m waiting with bated breath.

Unacceptable behavior from a company I've poured thousands and thousands of dollars into over the past 6 years. If you do not allow HBO Go on Xbox Live I will be canceling all of my family's services and moving to a provider who isn't such a proprietary a-hole.

Re: Xbox HBO Go blocked?

As somebody who has had comcast when it was still Adelphia, I will be switching to U-verse as soon as I possibly can. I am away at college and was so thrilled to finally have a convenient way to use hbogo and ondemand. Much to my surprise I cant use either! If only I subscribed to literally any other major TV service provider I would be able to use hbogo now. This is in addition to the new Samsung TV we got with hbogo that Xfinity doesnt support. My family has 2 comcast accounts for 2 homes and at least 5 boxes in each-I'm sure AT&T will be thrilled to get our business. I can watch hbogo on my cell phone but not on my xbox which has the app. A large majority of the early users of xfinity on demand would be college students who don't get to choose their service provider. So even if I wanted to watch certain episodes a day later than hbogo with a much smaller selection, I can't do that. I think Xfinity is begging us to switch to u-verse or fios.

I just got off the phone with a Comcast rep who told me that they will be supporting the HBO Go app on XBOX 360 by later today....

I'm not sure if he just wanted to get rid of me or if that's the truth but I guess we'll see. He said he just went and asked his manager and that's what he was told to say.

If it's not working by the end of the month I'm definitely switching to AT&T.  All of my friends already have and love if, I honestly don't know why I've stuck around this long.  I guess sometimes you just need something like this to show you how bad a company really is.

In my experiance comcast thinks that devices like Roku and PS3 and XBOX are a SMALL NICHE market.

I pounded them for years to get into the game console market. I told them how awsome Netflix was and how simple and versatile it is. All i got back was I wanna put Netflix outa business. I tried to tell them about all the media center customers there were. People who DONT want all these boxes in the home. They want the Media Center Experiance. I tried to tell them customers want customizable guides listing ONLY the channels they wanted without all the other channels they dont like. I can understand this attitude to a point. Sure If i were in there position i would want to make a product people want more and just as easy and versatile.

However it seems other SMARTER companies have beaten them to it and much like the record industry Comcast doesnt know what to do. If i were comcast I would offer folks a yearly plan for just HBO or STARZ or Showtime. Heck I just payed i think like 130 bucks for an entire year of MLB.TV. I never got to watch the Phillies LIVE anyway so it works awsome for me. I get every game 90 Minutes after it ends locally or live on away games. I subscribe through ZUNE to the shows i watch. I pay to OWN the shows in HD.

I Dropped cable LONG ago. However if Comcast did Offer a yearly Sub to HBO and HBO GO separately without the need for a BOX I would subscribe....

You hear that down there at Market Street in Philadelphia? You guys are missing the boat here.

Trust me folks unless there are MILLIONS of people on facebook and twitter complaining Comcast wont do anything till they have found a way to doit with out loosing absolute control over who sees what and how.

[ Edited ]

Dear Comcast, ComcastJoe and every board admin that might get to read this

We the subscribers are tired to be treated as a number and are tired of your empty promises as a company to provide a service that we have long since been expecting and patiently waiting for. The release of HBO Go on the 360 and the XFinity app were a grand opportunity for you as a company to provide great service to your customers and start changing the stigma that this is a corporation out to rob their customers for every dime they can however, how you handled this situation was very poorly and that is a modest description of the issue.

I have talked to many representatives and spent 2 hours daily trying to work with your teams to get these issues resolved and honestly this is just ridiculous and absurd the amount of trouble your customers have to go through to get the level of service you proudly advertise on your commercials but rarely offer. I even went to the extent to talk to the Corporate Escalations team to get some light on when will we see HBO Go come through for Xbox users and the answer I received was that there were no plans for this in the near future.  I understand that you are afraid of losing revenue (I don’t see how you would lose it) by extending this service to your customers however; this would in reality expand customer relations and satisfaction (you sometimes have to give to receive however, at this point Comcast only takes).  What is worse and is under your immediate control is the artificial limitation that restrict the customers that pay for premium internet customers that do not want to have the 250GB cap from having access to any of these On Demand services. If I can get them through my iPad and iPhone why can’t I use the Xbox app, and when was that communicated to us as customers that we would face these problems?  The only solution offered at this point is adding an additional basic internet service to my bill at my expense to address the issue that you as a corporation have created, to top it off you  are not willing to provide any form of credit to offset the additional cost that you are creating because of your artificial limitation.

Now I know you call these items features however, these are features that are part of the package offerings and the lack of availability of these offerings do constitute a breach of contract and allow your subscribers to detach from your service without ETF’s, sadly not a lot of people are aware of this.

Subscribers, here is the number for the Corporate Escalations 651-493-5900 team, might be regional but these are folks above the standard call center people that don’t have call scripts, these are the folks that we should really be directing our frustration and lack of satisfaction specially since as of Friday afternoon according to the rep that took my call this was the first call they had received regarding this issue (which I find impossible given the traction in the forums). Given that they claim that they haven’t heard our demands I would suggest we let them know how they are affecting their customers and how unsatisfied we are with these situations so they can’t claim that they are not aware of the issues.  Next step is a complaint to the FCC!

Re: Xbox HBO Go blocked?

So ComcastJoe or ComcastEric, no response for any posts since Friday morning. Nothing for us? Not even the copy and paste "Comcast and HBO are in discussions to increase HBOGO access" line anymore? Can't even dignify us petty customers with a response? Come on now, even the CEO of Netflix (a company who you have a deal with) is asking where the HBO GO is, and not even a statement? We're still waiting.

Re: Xbox HBO Go blocked?

All we can say at this point is that Comcast and HBO are still in discussions and we'll let you know when there's more to report.  Your patience is appreciated while we work to come to a resolution that we hope will be to the satisfaction of our customers.

Re: Xbox HBO Go blocked?

If you go to DirectTV via their website and talk to someone in a chat, they will let you lock in the price for the entire two years of your contract. You can get their xtra package for two whole years at 61.99 per month.

And you can use HBO Go on your Xbox. I will most likely be making that switch myself.

Just make sure you do the order online, as that is where they will give you the 2 year deal instead of 1.

Comcast should lose tons of subscribers for pulling this with the HBO Go app.
