When you get the plug-in notice just click off the notice, refresh your page and continue on to your program. The 5.0 work around is a bit buggy, but if you are desparate enough to watch comcast online, then you will just continue to refresh page and resume the playback whenever an error message appears.
I started to test out the 4.0 version of Silverlight last night using Chrome, and so far no error messages. Still testing it though. If anyone decides to try 4.0 as well, let us know how it works for you.
Be sure to disable automatic updates from Windows, or your pc will just reinstall Silver 5.1.

Hello,
Today (May 31, 2012), I was trying to watch an HBO series (Entourage) on my laptop and I was prompted that my MicroSoft Silver light software would have to be upgraded. I followed the upgrade procedure and then restarted my browser (Google Chrome) and tried to watch the series. The error message "Error 6030" showed up and it would not let me start the show.
I tried other browsers (Internet Explorer 10 and AOL). The same error message came up.
I have been successfully watching the HBO series over the past week without being prompted to upgrade my Silver Light until today. This is when the problem started.
Also, I am using Windows XP.
I am looking forward to any help that you can provide.

Upgraded silverlight as per required by Xfinity - now getting error message 6036
06-01-2012 02:39 AM
I am having the same problem, I uninstalled and reinstalled silverlight as well as upadated my browser.
06-01-2012 09:27 AM
Joe,
I think this is getting more than a little ridiculous, I have uninstalled and reinstalled Silverlite about 10 X's already! One day it works and the next day it's broke again. Can't you people use a set of applications that don't require being a full time support technician to watch a few movies on the computer?
I don't like having to upgrade IE either every time a new release comes out. IE 8 should be more than sufficient. Many times the new release is worse than the old version.
I just think it should be much easier to watch a movie on a 3Ghz PC with 1 GB RAM and a 256 MB Video Card on Comcast High speed internet.
Nothing is a "value added feature" if you can not use it without getting aggravated. That's not viewing enjoyment.

Error 6030
06-01-2012 12:34 PM
Did as suggested. Then got message that I had to UPDATE Silverlight to play the video. Deja Vu / Catch 22 in perpetual redundancy... Phil

I got your reply to my problem with error 6030. So what is the time frame to fix this? I consider this part of what I pay for, at over 120$ a month I expect all of my service to work. Tell me that "they" are working on it, is not good enough. WHEN will it be fixed, and are you guys going to credit me for the time I can't use my online TV viewing? I did everthing suggested on these fourms, and still the message of eroor 6030 persists.
WHEN WILL IT WORK AGAIN?

To fix another issue on the site, we had to send out a fix to resolve it. Because we are making this patch mandatory, you will no longer be able to use the workaround posted above.
The site will make you use the newly patched Silverlight 5.1. Once you download it, you still may get Error 6030.
I am sorry about this news but we hope to have another fix pushed out shortly for Silverlight 5.1 users who are getting Error 6030 very soon.
Thanks,
Joe

If I understand COMCAST has a issue for the past month and has no fix
no idea, and you are trying another fix for a issue that you all don't have
a problem or understand. Does the custom get a rebate that the service
paid for is broke......What is wrong with this picture

Ever since I posted a comment and fix(first and last time!!), a couple of weeks ago, I have had about 5-8 replies PER DAY from Mister Tony and the Comcast Forum. One reply is fine and I'm grateful, but multiple,
continuing, daily email updates is almost annoying as Spam. PLEASE, don't link every response back to us on a continuous basis. I can read the forums if I'm still having problems.
Thanks

Everytime I try to watch a video I get Error 6030, how do I fix this?
06-02-2012 09:48 AM
Does anyone bother to read the history of this topic before posting the 6030 problem over and over again??
06-02-2012 10:07 AM
No Beth...people don't read...
Hey Comcast - I suggest that you edit the message on the loading screen to address compatibility. The Comcast message is suggesting the upgrade to the new version everytime. Perhaps you should qualify that or even remove it for the time being....you know, as a work around.
06-02-2012 11:55 AM
Like many others, I have been getting this error message for weeks. I had to do the fix numerous times (every several days), and now had to upgrade Silverlight, which causes the problem all over again. When will this be fixed and when can we expect a refund towards our bill for the time that we did not have access to xfinitytv premium shows? Thank you.
06-02-2012 06:52 PM
You don't have to upgrade. Just don't upgrade when Comcast says to upgrade. Don't.
I've been using Silverlight 4.0 now for a few days. Actually works better then the 5.0 version. Using Chrome. In Chrome, when you begin, you will get a popup that says Silverlight is outdated, then it asks if you want to run it just this time. Choose yes. Then you can play your show. I have not tried it on other browsers.

Error 6030 fix?
06-02-2012 08:18 PM
Well, doesn't comcast think it would be a good idea to let your customer service people know that there is a problem with error 6030 and you are trying to fix it. Over the past three days I have spent several hours talking with six or more customer service reps who have never heard of error 6030 and have put me through all kinds of gyrations and then admitted they had no idea what they were doing...when I asked one rep if she knew anything about 6030 she hung up on me. Now I am waiting for a callback arranged by a supervisor who also never heard of 6030 and could not get anyone to infrom her. She said they would have to change my password to fix the problerm...why would that happen if the error is on your end. You could also put up a meaningful error message...and not just say the video is currently unavailable and try back later...which would be the honest thing to do. PLEASE GET BACK TO ME AND LET ME KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING!!!!!!!!!!!

I now agree with all the rest - since you broke your own workaround. We pay a lot of money for the services. Fix it now or start losing customers.

I cannot watch xfinity TV on my computer anymore. Every time I log in I get this error message:

It is unacceptable that Comcast require customers to use Silverlight to watch online and then not have the videos available because Comcast has not done its due diligience in making sure it works before rolling out to customers. This is poor business and terrible customer service. If anyone on this forum is considering a class action lawsuit - count me in. This is a strong revenue stream for Comcast and they are not delivering what they have agreed provide.

I too have many issues with the error code 6030. What is up with this? You offer the service, we pay and we don't get. Maybe when we pay our bill we should pay with an error code.

I am receiving error code 6030. Please help.
06-04-2012 10:48 AM
I can certainly understand everyone's frustration with this issue.
Testing was in-progress over the weekend on the new code to fix the problem. No impeding issues were found. We have a bit more testing to do today but as long as nothing major is discovered we plan on deploying the new code later this week. Possibly as early as tomorrow afternoon.

It is forcing me to upgrade or it will not play. The workaround is not longer working.
06-04-2012 09:07 PM
Hi there,
To fix the 6030 error I removed the current version of Silverlight and installed an older one and that worked fine. Until today.
WHEN YOUR APP FORCED ME TO UPGRADE IN ORDER TO WATCH ANY PROGRAMS, BUT THEN PROMPTLY GAVE A 6030 ERROR FOR ALL PROGRAMS!!!
What is going on here??? Why completely prevent me from watching ANY programming until I upgrade, but refuse to fix the problem the upgrade causes???
06-04-2012 09:11 PM
Why push a patch with an issue you KNOW will blow up a segment of your user population and then take your sweet time fixing the problem YOU CAUSED? And in the process prevent that same segment of the userbase from being able to use the one thing that fixed the issue that again, YOU CAUSED???
06-05-2012 02:22 AM
No matter what I do I can't get the "Cable" channels to play. I can go directly to the channel websites and get stuff to play but not on the Xfinity site. It is really starting to irritate me. I have removed and installed Silverlight, I have cleared cookies and cache and still I can't get it to work. I can't watch any of my programs that are on "Cable".
06-05-2012 09:10 AM
Try using Silverlight 4.0. That works for me.

Hi All, This deployment is now complete. All servers are running code that will deal with this error. Please let us know if you see any issues.

Working for me. Thank you.
06-05-2012 09:49 PM
mostly 6030 but there is one other one that I get but I can't remember it. I have done everything that it tells me to do to get it to work but unistalling Silverlight and reinstalling it isn't working, so then I emptied my cache and cookies, then unitstalled it and reinstalled it and it still won't work.
06-05-2012 09:51 PM
Tonight it started working again, we will see how long it works this time.
06-06-2012 12:21 AM
I am still having issues with silverlight and xfinity tv website. It keeps telling me to upgrade no matter what I do. I have uninstalled, rebooted, cleared cache and reinstalled with no luck.
