I reside in zip code 03054. I've been a loyal Comcast customer for close to a decade and an Xfinity Triple Play bundle customer for close to a year. At this point in time, I still get the old "onscreen guide" screen and cannot access things like Universal Caller ID, myDVR, etc.
Also many of the HD channels 'tile' and just drop out to black intermittently.
I used the online help feature at Comcast.com many months ago about this and the rep told me that my area was being updated 'real soon' so I can actually get all the services I've been paying for. So far nothing.
Can someone please attend to this and give me a definite date that my service will be finally be made current and provide me a retroactive discount for all these months I haven't been able to get what I'm supposed to get and what I've been paying for. Dish Network is banging loudly on my door and I'm getting fed up with Comcast and am about to spend my $150/month elsewhere.
Thank you.

Do you have Scientific Atlanta equipment? Those areas were delayed some this year, but are now starting to deploy.
As far as the picture tiling, please call for a tech visit to check and correct your signals, when was the last time a tech was out? Your issues is probably very local to your home.

Hi Jay, Thank you for your quick response. Yes, it's a Scientific-Atlanta box. Any ballpark deployment date?
We had a technician out shortly after we went HD a couple of years ago. They checked the signal strength, changed some cable from the telephone pole and updated some splitters. Things were fine until a major increase in available HD channels a few months ago, then the problems started with some of the new cable channels. I guess I could schdule another tech visit, but it's a pain due to our schedules to have someone here during normal business hours.

Policies vary widely by Comcast area, but techs have longer hours these days, we are lucky to have them 7 days a week until 7pm. You might be able to get a late appointment.
Unless you have the skills to troubleshoot your cable wiring inside your house, a tech visit would be best. What might have happened is as the channels increase, Comcast is using higher frequencies to carry all those new HD's. Higher frequencies = more loss on the coaxial system, and this affects, the loss in the coax, splitters and F connectors. Many homes that have had cable for many years have splitters not designed for the higher frequencies, now splitters must be rated 5-1000mhz, where the old days, splitters only went to 500-600-750mhz. These old splitters, old cabling, and old crimp F connectors affect these new channels on the higher frequencies.
Without the proper test equipment, you don't know how the signal is at your outlet, at all across the frequency band. It is very common to have issues with only part of the frequency band, knocking out or supplying low signal levels at only some channels. This causes the tiling only on some of the channels. Sometimes it's poor / wet / corrorded F connectors, squirrels chewing on the drop cable, or old splitters.
It's your schedule and decision, but a tech visit would be best. If want to attempt a do-it-yourself solution, post back.
As far as the upgrades, no one here would know the schedule, if you could ever stop by your local office, they would know more until they start sending you mailings about the digital transition.

It is now 2012. For two years I've been told that DVR Manager and on-screen caller ID were 'coming to my area soon'. Can someone of any importance at Comcast please tell me when our area (Merrimack, NH) will really be getting these features! I am so sick of the runaround and paying for features that we don't get, that everyone else gets.
