I have two Comcast CATV HD/DVR boxes in the same room, on the same bookshelf, connected to the same TV -- so that I can record up to four different programs at the same time. My problem is that the Remote Controls that Comcast seems to provide with their CATV boxes (or a similar model) will control more than one CATV box that might be in the vicinity. I need to be able to access & program on of the HD/DVR boxes, without the Remote Control affecting the other CATV box nearby. Is there a way to set this up & do what I need to do?

not that I know of. you could put some tape on the front of one of the boxes but you have two exact set ups and the remote controls both there is no way to seperate the first from the second. have you thought about putting one of the boxes in a cabinet or turning it sideways? There is no way to designate one box from the other sorry. maybe someone else here might be in the same situation.

I have two ReplayTV DVRs connected to the same TV. The trick that ReplayTV users figured out years ago is to turn one off and the other on. The remote control will control the one that's turned on, the other one will ignore it. When you want to switch, press the Power button on the remote -- it will turn that one off, and turn the other one on at the same time.
