Sometime over the past week my 2 Cisco branded RNG-200N DVR's had a software upgrade from
S25p2-7.1013.r-52 to S25p2-7.1104.r-58.
Does anyone know if this is the long-awaited software update to fix the many recording and playback issues discussed in this forum?
I'm located in Eastern Massachusetts - zip 02644.
The firmware in the boxes is 8.4.21.103.
The software in my SA Explorer 8300HD box is unchanged at S25p2-7.1101.r-54.

I don't think anyone here will know that, but do you notice any different with your box? Does it acutally work now. Please post your findings as the patch might be rolling out it was suppose to be in november.

I can say that I recorded two shows simultaneously while watching a third and both recordings were complete without black screens or early termination as I had experienced previously.
The guide format and menu options appear the same as they did before.
It would be a real customer service if our Comcast Administrators could make some calls and verify that this is the long awaited software "fix" we've been holding our tempers for.

Is there any word if this "THE" software fix that's been promised to address the video problems on the RNG 200N??

Has the software version in your RNG200N changed?

I'm having video problems as well. When the comcast box is set to use 1080i or 720p, the resolution fills up the entire screen except the very top, I want to say 4 pixels all the way across the top.

derby
See if your TV's menu has a setting for overscan and turn that on.

That's definitely not what I should have to do. Overscan crops part of the image, on all 4 sides. That's garbage.
And this problem is awful for a plasma since that part that's not being displayed on will get burned in.

I had a RNG 200N but because of the problems with video flash, etc. I swapped it out with an older SA 8300 HDC which runs with no problems after the Guide conversion. The downside to the 8300 is less storage than the RNG 200N.
I'd like to hear from users if the problems with their RNG 200N's are resolved with the latest software/firmware update and if so I'd give it another try.

I live in northeastern PA and we just got the guide update in March of this year. Ever since then, the DVR doesn't work properly at all. I don't think we are even in phase 2 yet. How would I know?
