Comcast vs surround sound

I've seen a few threads about poor quality when using surround sound systems (mostly audio randomly cutting out), but no solutions or any response from Comcast. Since Comcast doesn't seem to care about their quality I'm hoping everyone can post their setup and issues so we can fix it ourselves.

I have a Harman Kardon avr154 with a gray js Comcast box, the audio cuts out quite a bit.

Re: Comcast vs surround sound

I have surround sound on my comcast old silver dct box, no problems at all.  It all depends on the qualilty of the box you have and the qualilty of the signal to your home, thats what affects your picture quality and your sound.

Harman Kardon makes excellent quality surround sound systems, I know that isnt to blame. Comcast has sent several guys out to "check the lines" and they said the signal is ok. Good signal, good equipment, terrible service.

Re: Comcast vs surround sound

Hi there-

I'm having the same issue  and it's driving me NUTS.

I have a brand new Onkyo TX-NR709. I know its not the processor as all other sources other than cable or on-demand material work perfectly.

I've changed settings in the Onkyo, switched from HDMI to digital/optical with no change. I have sound randomly cutting out all the time (like all dialog (center channel) will drop out, but I get all the other ambient sounds.)

I'm pretty sure I have the RNG110 box. I have yet to call comcast, but I'm not feeling too hopeful for a resolution. Just not sure what to do at this point...

Anyone have *any* suggestions short of dropping cable for an Apple TV??
