Ever since Comcast went digital I have been paying even more money for my cable service as well as the extra DTA I had to get (for a total of 3). My problem is with the fact that I am paying for a certain level of service and cannot access that service over any TV with a DTA attached. Aside from the fact that I can only access the premium channels I have (HBO) on the TV that has the converter box, there is a slew of other channels I cannot access on any of the TVs with only a DTA. So am I supposed to pay for a converter box for every TV in my home in order to get the channels I am already paying for? I'm paying a huge amount of money every month for a service I am only partially getting. That hardly seems fair. ![]()

When a TV didn't hava a DTA, most subscribers never received digital preferred, S&E or premiums. So a DTA does still give the subscriber the same channels as before, and for many receive more channels there were digital only and the sub never received.
Only a few area's in NJ had a two analog premiums that could be received with cable ready equipment, no one else was still configured that way for many years in ComcastLand. Analog premiums affected way less than 1% of subscribers.

I totaly agree! We had not had to pay for TV for the 25 years we have lived in our home. We did not need anything other than a roof antenna to get numerous channels. Then it all went away one pixel at a time. First we tried the "converter boxes" at $40 a pop x 2. Needless to say, that didn't work because our beautiful mountains are in the way. Hense I am now like the rest of you paying big bucks for tv. Sad that it had to happen here in USA.

Actually I'm having a problem, in that you were able to pick up Analog TV with a roof antenna, and not the Digital channels with a roof antenna (indeed one made for Digital), as most digital RF channels (if not all) travel better than the analog channels did. Also, the Gov. had vouchers for the "converter boxes" making them free (except local and state taxes). This however had nothing to do with Comcast, and I for one agree with ditching Analog and replacing it with Digital, especially as it gives us HD instead of SD.. YMMV
As to Comcast reneging on their "If you have Comcast cable you will not need any 'converter boxes'", will let's just call that 'short lived', as the output of Bulls in the field can get an entry deleted.

Agree, it's not fair. And the things that Comcast (and other media providers) are trying to do, like encrypting Local/Basic channels just adds insult to injury! Especially when they have a "uDTA" that outputs HD (as well as SD) that is not RF analog SD, in place of the very limited DTA boxes!!!

well most of us want faster internet and more HD channels. These come with a cost. be lucky it was around this long. Satellite companies never had this feature.
this happens with any technolgy, better get used to it.
i'm sure people complained about records, CDs, now we have mostly all digital music.
I'm sure people complained with what beta-max?? lol , VHS, DVD, blue ray , now streaming video
see the trend... nothing new.. need to adapt

Not saying I am complaining about going digital, altho I am not thrilled at ALL those times when my picture is constantly pixelating. What I object to is the fact that I am paying for a certain tier of TV service and I can only watch ALL the channels in that tier on ONE TV. I should be able to access them on all the TV's on which I had a DTA. That's what I pay for. That's my only complaint. Imagine paying for cable Internet and only being able to access it on one computer. Would THAT be fair?
