I'm getting a sound loss anywhere from 5 seconds to 20-30 seconds apart. The loss is a few seconds - enough to miss a few words especially in a fast paced movie. I don't have this problem on my 2nd TV in the bedroom.
Does anyone know what causes this? Thanks

I too have this problem. I get sound loss for anywhere between 5 and 15 seconds. Moreover, the picture sometimes breaks up. It is very disconcerting and I'd like to know how to correct the problem.

that would not be the cause of the issue. Do you have any splitters that might have gone bad that you know of. Can you move that box to another outlet and see if the problem follows the box.?

I've had the problem since service installation August 1st. The fact the problem doesn't happen with the 2nd TV tells me it may very well be the DVR. For signal, the jack is right at the wall (prewired). I asked the previous owners and they never experienced any loss of sound.
Thanks and let me know what you think. I will also try switching out the box and see if that works.

I checked the splitter in the attic. It has a booster that is plugged into an electrical outlet. The plug was loose. I firmed it up. So far the picture doesn't break up and the sound seems to be OK now. I'll give it some more time. I hope that was the problem.
