I just purchased a new 40"LCD TV and then upgraded my service with another HD box and the TV and HD channels work great. However, the TV codes provided by Comcast for this TV doesn't work. I tried : 10885, 10889, 10890, 11282, 11577, 11100, 10080, 10111, 11548. The TV model # is VR-4085DF. I went onto the Westinghouse website and they do have a list of codes for COMCAST remotes but the codes are only four digits. This remote takes 5 digits. I tried a leading putting a "0" first and then the code but that didn't work either. I contacted Westinghouse about this but haven't heard back yet. This is very frustrating.

Also, the first code I tried; 10885 does chage the source of the signal on the TV when I press the volume button on the remote. So, it is sending a code to the TV but it is not working right. 

Does anyone else have the same problem?

Does anyone know the correct code for this TV using the Comcast remote ?

Try 10000(0000 from the Westinghouse site),didn't notice that in your list 

Also try 10463 or 10623 (White Westinghouse from the manual)

You can always try the search feature which takes a bit of time, but will find any code for any TV.

The directions for comcast remotes is below:

If your home entertainment device does

not respond to the remote control after

trying all of the codes listed for your

brand, or if your brand is not listed at all,

try searching for your code. 

For example, after trying all of the

codes for your TV, you still cannot get

the remote control to operate your TV,

then:

1.  Turn on your TV.

2.  On the remote control, press TV

once. Then press and hold Setup

until the TV key blinks twice, then

release Setup.

3.  Enter 9 - 9 - 1. The TV key will

blink twice.

4.  Aim the remote control at the the

TV and slowly alternate between

pressing Power and TV. 

Stop when the TV turns off. A

working code has been found.

NOTE: In the search mode, the

remote control will send IR codes

from its library to the selected device,

starting with the most popular code

first.  

5.  Press Setup once to lock in the

code.The TV key will blink twice.

6. To search for the codes of another

device, repeat steps 1 to 5, but

substitute the AUX key for the auxiliary device you are searching for

Try the above page and make sure you pick the right remote, they each have different remote codes.

Thanks to all for your responses. I have tried other codes and they do not work; 10451, 10000, 10623, 11661, 10463, 10661. Also, I tried the 991 code and only found a code that changes the TV source.

I also received a reply from Westinghouse which is not encouraging. They said:

We are contacting you regarding your recent request for assistance from our Customer Relations department, regarding your case.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this matter may have caused you. As a valued customer it is always our best intention to provide you with the best customer service possible. We are currently, dilligently working with the various service providers to get the remote codes that offer full functionality with the serivce providers Hardware (remote). As soon as the codes are available they wl be on our website in the Support tab under RemoteCodes. We will also be sending out an email blast with the remote codes as soon as they're available. Again we appologise for inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience.

It sounds like there is no code yet for this TV. I will contact Westinghouse tomorrow the old fashioned way, by telephone, and get verification about this.

I wish you luck. But when I checked out the Westinghouse site all I saw were 4 digit codes listed for Comcast remotes. Probably for the old grey select button remote.

I have a 40" LCD model # vr-4085df also, i have tried every code I have come across, I did not have any luck with the search code function either. I have a hard enough time keeping track of one remote, so finding/using two is getting old. Know any new codes or have any suggestions ?

Try codes for Toshiba.

I had the same problem.  A Toshiba code worked; I believe it was 10060.

I tried the following toshiba codes and they did NOT work: 10060, 10154, 11256, 10156, 11265, 10650, 10845, 11156, 11356, 11656, 11704.

I first posted about this problem in 2010 and still have no answer.

COMCAST is a big disappointment.They have no code for this TV model. Unbelievable!!!!

Also try 00627 or 10178 if you haven't. Not codes for you model exactly.

But looking at the codes chart it looks like Westinghouse never provided codes for anyone beyond their own remote. So the maker of the Comcast remote has little to go on.

After 3 hours trying every code possibe '0000' worked perfectly.  I have the Silver remote with a grey 'OK' button.

Thanks Commonguy but the codes didn't work for this model. Back when I originally posted I didn't find the Westinghouse code for this specific model either and it sounds like they still don't have one years later. The codes "00627", "10178" and "00000" don't work either. WESTINGHOUSE SUCKS. I will never buy another Westinghouse TV no matter how cheap or better it might be compared to other brands. They have lost my business for good.
