I recently changed DVR boxes from a Motorola DCT 3412 to a Motorola DCX 3501.
DVR Manager is available in my area and I used on the old box with no problem. On the new box, I get a message that "cable control is not available for this cable box." I am able to see my recordings and scheduled recordings on the computer with the new box. I am not able to schedule recordings from the computer (they don't show up on the box), or edit scheduled recordings. I'm also not able to change channels from the computer.
After I installed the new box, I got a message the first day on the computer that no compatible DVR was installed. I stopped getting that message but DVR manager never let me set up the new box (as I did originally with the old box).
Does my new box not support TV control? Is there a problem with my set-up? (If so, is there some way to deactive the existing set-up and then set-up DVR manager again for the new box?)

Your motorola box is fine. comcast might have it provisioned wrong on their end, this always happens when you have a box working and switch it for a new one you have to go through the whole set up process again which could take up to 48 hours. in your box guide do you see remote access set up, if you do go in there and delete it.
If you click the tv tab at the top of this page then on the next page click the wheel bottom of the page on the right, then go to devices and cable boxes what does it have listed there?

@rog: Thanks for replying. It says....
Name your boxes: DVR 1
Identify your boxes: <blank>
TV control: TV Control is not available for this cable box. Why?
Default DVR: <blue button>
"Why" links to an FAQ page but I can't find anything there that addresses this situation.
"Save Settings" is greyed out and a red circle and slash appears when I move the cursor over it.

like I said previously comcast must have your account not provisioned correctly since you changed the box. YOu need to call them and make sure they have the right box with correct serial number on your account. Did you go into the app and try to set it up, it says send a signal to the box, when you try that what happens.
