(Non Comcast) DVR keeps forgetting TVG listings

I have a Comcast DVR that's (knock on wood) working fine. My problem is that my Panasonic with the built-in TV Guide isn't. Since it's connected to Comcast, I'm hoping this may ring a bell for someone. I mostly use it as an archive (transfer video to it and then burn DVDs) and a few scheduled recordings. For the past few months, it will periodically display "no listing", and more annoyingly doesn't record what's been set. My work around has been to go into the setup and change the zip code to force it to reload.

Anyone have any ideas on avoiding this? I don't think it's actually "forgetting" listings, just not reloading them. I've had the dvr for 3 years, and this has only started since I moved, within the same county. Comcast DVR shares the same cable run and hasn't had that problem, although it does get a lot of tiling periodically.

Unless I'm missing something, your panasonic box must get the listings off the internet via an ethernet or modem connection?  If you are having tiling problems, that can point to a signal issue, which could also affect your cable modem and cause guide download problems, but then again it could just be wherever the panasonic gets its listings from is having issues as well.  The Comcast box downloads listings via the coax connection, from what one would assume are servers sitting local on their cable network, not on the general internet.

AFAIK, the Panasonic doesn't know anything about the internet and doesn't have a modem. Although I'm connected to cable, the instructions also talk about using an antenna connection. Oh, just found this in the description of another Panasonic model - "TV Guide On Screen information is embedded in the broadcast and cable TV signals".

I think I recall hearing something about them doing that, but wasn't aware it was in place.  It may still be a different signal than the Comcast Guide one though.  And certainly could be prone to signal issues.
