All talk about Guide 2.0 on Cisco equipment is going on at the Comcast Blog HERE. You can post a question over there and get an answer from the guy who knows.
03-12-2012 03:56 PM
Today, customers using Cisco branded cable boxes in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee and parts of Louisiana are able to experience On-Screen Guide 2.0
http://www.xfinity.com/onscreenguide2 when they subscribe to our AnyRoom DVR service.
You can get more information about AnyRoom DVR by calling 1-800-XFINITY or at the link below
http://info.xfinity.com/Portal/content/Comcast/Vid
On-Screen Guide 2.0 includes the myDVR Manager feature which allows you to schedule DVR recordings online.
Some links below for additional reading:
http://xfinitytv.comcast.net/mytv/dvr
The plan we are following is to introduce On-Screen Guide 2.0 with AnyRoom DVR initially and then also eventually include all of the RNG devices (RNG 100, 150 and 200) after a certain date in deployed markets later this year.

When will this be available in the Port Charlotte/Englewood (Charlotte County) FL area ?? I received the RNG200N back in October 2011, and was told by the installer that they were switching to a new "Barracuda Network"..... hopefully to be complete sometime around Christmas. It's now 3 months into the new year. In the meantime, the Xfinity TV App (which is so heavily advertised) is still incompatabile with this box.
Apparently it requires screen guide 2.0 according to the Comcast website. When is the new network going to be complete, or is it, and when will screen guide 2.0 shows up on the box in this area ?? Will this update to the box occur automatically, and anytime soon? Phone support has been clueless about this for the last 5 months. Nobody ever has answers. I hope you can help.
Thanks!
Tony

Hello Tony and thanks for your question. If you can send me a PM (Private Message) with your address I can look into this for you further.
The plan we are following is to introduce On-Screen Guide 2.0 with AnyRoom DVR initially and then also eventually include all of the RNG devices (RNG 100, 150 and 200) after a certain date in deployed markets later this year. We do understandably have a controlled deployment plan for the early stages of this guide deployment so we can monitor customer and business metrics, install times, and the overall impact to our customers and to the business.
To clarify, all Cisco RNG devices in On-Screen Guide 2.0 deployed markets are targeted to receive On-Screen Guide 2.0 after a certain calendar date in each market any new Cisco RNG boxes that get installed or swapped would have On-Screen Guide 2.0.
After that, the current plan is to arrange to change the on-screen guide on the existing RNG set tops in the On-Screen Guide 2.0 deployed markets. That will require some advance, direct and wide customer communication.
The RNG 200-N DVR does have a larger hard drive (500gb ) and is used for our AnyRoom DVR service now available in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee and parts of Louisiana.
AnyRoom DVR does require a technician visit and professional installation.

We do have an on-screen guide live in Augusta, GA with a few thousand customers that is also targeted for at least one additional market this year.
We have also demonstrated this guide at a few places publicly like the Philadelphia Home Show and the Philadelphia Design Home.

Plans are for a much wider roll out of this guide in 2013.

Hi - I woul dlike to know when screen guide 2.0 will be available in my area so that I can use the xfinity app.I already have the RNG 150. Will I have to have my box exchanged to receive this when it is available? I live in the Boca Grande, Florida area - I think we have the same channel lineup at what Comcast calls Cape Haze if that helps.

I would like to know how to find out when pittsburgh is going to get the new guide. The price of my service is now $250 and I am debating whether to cancel service and try to get an antenna or dish at my apartment.

Thanks for your interest. I don't have dates or timelines for these products in the Pittsburgh, PA area that I can share just yet. As we get closer to wider deployments you will certainly hear more about these products.
The deployment schedule is dependent on a lot of different things. Once we get closer to wider deployment, our customers will certainly be made aware of any guide changes or new features through many methods.
Thanks for your questions and thanks for being a Comcast customer.

Should be soon (targeting mid-June) for the Boca Grande area of Florida; there is some additional technical work that is required first that needs to be completed in order to bring the On-Screen Guide 2.0 experience to your area. We do already have the new guide available in nearby Port Charlotte and Venice.

I live in Port Charlotte and want to get Manage DVR to work. When I called into the support line about it I was told I needed to exchange my Scientific Atlanta cable box for the RNG200N. I went to the Venice office and picked one up and installed it last Thursday. When I go to activate it I get the following message:
DVR Manager is available in your area. However, we are
unable to detect a compatible DVR in your household
When I go to this URL: http://customer.comcast.com/help-and-support/cable
Thanks for your help!

Thanks for your help!
Currently in all of the areas where we have On-Screen Guide 2.0 deployed (including Port Charlotte, FL), a subscription to AnyRoom DVR is also required. We do have plans to lift that AnyRoom DVR restriction soon and deploy the newer guide more widely in the coming months.
Currently, you would need AnyRoom DVR in order to get On-Screen Guide 2.0 in your area.
AnyRoom DVR does need to be installed by one of our technicians. If you are interested in AnyRoom DVR (and also receive get the new on-screen guide and the DVR Manager feature), send me a PM (Private Message) and I can get you connected to the right people to make that happen

Thanks for the information. Since we only have one TV in the house AnyRoom DVR isn't attractive. I'll just have to wait until the restriction is lifted. What would be the best way to find out when that restriction has been lifted?

You are welcome. I can post that information here or send you a PM once we are all set to deliver On-Screen Guide 2.0 to non-AnyRoom DVR devices in your area.
You would need to exchange the Cisco RNG 200-N that you have now for one with the new guide (once the local system is ready to go).

A post here would be great. Thanks for all your help.
I there is an aspect that is a bit frustrating from a customer standpoint. This process started for me a couple of weeks ago when I called the local office about Manage DVR. I was told to come in and exchange my existing cable box (Scientific Atlanta at that point) for a compatible one. After an hour and a half round trip to the local office to do the exchange and losing all the stored shows on the DVR I thought I was good to go. It looks now like I'll need to go through that process all over again when the restriction is lifted. I wish there were a way the 2.0 Guide could be installed to my current Cisco RNG 200-N without having to exchange it and without removing the DVR content.
04-14-2012 08:15 AM
at least you get guide 2.0 before us motorola users. We're stuck with the same guide we've had for 6 or 7 years now.
Sure we have dvr manager and features like that but the overall guide is exactly the same as it was 6 or 7 years ago.

If you have On-Screen guide 2.0, you will certainly know it: http://www.xfinity.com/onscreenguide2
The version number of the on-screen guide for your cable box can be found in the guide’s setup menu.
Press the Menu button twice on the silver Comcast remote control, select Setup, then Cable Box setup, arrow down to Configuration and “Select to display” and press OK/Select.
The line immediately underneath the Review Configuration header will show you the version of the guide currently on your cable box. There are different version numbers depending on your cable box type.
The last few characters indicate the version number. A change in version number on that box would indicate an update to the guide. Don’t worry. You will hear about the new guide from us in advance in a few different ways (other than having to constantly check your guide version via the above)!

You have the most recent version of the guide for your area and cable box type. The r-27 is an internal designation of the guide software that our developers and designers refer to.

So when can I expect the 2.0 update?
Thanks.

We have been trialing and testing the new On-Screen Guide 2.0 in the non-AnyRoom DVR configuration (RNG 100, 150 and 200) with employees in your area and are targeted to have that option available in July for your area,
To be clear, the new On-Screen Guide 2.0 will be available next to RNG boxes after a certain calendar date in each market. Any new Cisco RNG boxes that get installed or swapped after that date would have On-Screen Guide 2.0.
In your case, you would need to arrange to swap out your RNG 200N if you wanted to get On-Screen Guide 2.0 but not until after the July date is announced.
After that, the current plan is to arrange to change the on-screen guide on the existing RNG set tops in the On-Screen Guide 2.0 deployed markets. That will require some advance, direct and wide customer communication.
05-29-2012 04:22 PM
So to be perfectly clear, my RNG 200N box will not get the 2.0 guide while the RNG 100, 150, and 200 (non-N) will get get the new guide in my area in July.
And if I choose not to swap my box for another 200N after the July date -- keeeping in mind that I will not be signing up for AnyRoomTV -- it will, at some later date, be upgraded to the 2.0 guide anyway?
Thanks.

The RNG "N" boxes would also be included in the list I provided. Sorry about that oversight.
Yes. All RNG series of boxes in your area are scheduled to get On-Screen Guide 2.0 eventually.
AnyRoom DVR customers have the new guide now.
New installations and box swaps (to any Cisco RNG series device) would get the new On-Screen Guide 2.0 guide next, after the announced date that is targeted for July .

Ted,
Now that it is July, can you give us the latest status on the Guide 2.0 rollout for Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410 for non-AnyRoom Cisco RNG200N units?
We cannot get specific information from the comcast office in our town. The local office simply says it will be a long time before My DVR Mgr is available to us.
We have two DVR units: Cisco RNG200N and Scientific Atlanta 8300HD. Neither DVR has Guide 2.0. We have no desire to switch to AnyRoom DVR. We want 2 discrete DVR's.
How will Comcast inform us when guide 2.0 is available to our house? Email? A message on our bill? Snail mail? Web page? Must we periodically search for the answer or will they make it obvious when it is available?
Can we volunteer to be beta testers when Guide 2.0 rollout starts for customers in this area? My wife and I are both computer programmers familiar with testing and debugging. If yes, who should we contact?
Regards,
Gene in Florida

Ted,
You told me a few days ago that my area, Boca Raton - 33496, will be getting more HD statioms on July 10th. I have a RNG 200 DVR. Does that mean that after July 10 (if that roll out date stays the same) I would be able to swap out my box for a new one with the new guide?
At my local office in Boca, they do not guarantee you what kind of box you will get and when you call CS they also do not guarantee what box will delivered. You get what they give you and it's a hassle to keep going to their office, especially when the wait time could be over an hour and you could leave there without what you want.
The offices here do not give you any information.
Thanks - Anita

In almost all areas of Florida where we are using Cisco or Scientific-Atlanta branded cable boxes, we do already have On-Screen Guide 2.0 http://www.xfinity.com/onscreenguide2 available with a subscription to AnyRoom DVR http://info.xfinity.com/Portal/content/Comcast/Vid
AnyRoom DVR uses a Cisco RNG 200N and a Cisco RNG 150N.
For your area of Florida it really can be down to the specific address where certain features are available as we roll across new locations in your area.
I would need some more information about exactly where you are in Florida to get you a more complete answer. I'll have somone take a look at your account on Thursday.

I was told that the RNG-200N is the correct box by Comcast employees.

You have a correct DVR for myDVR manager.
Your area needs the next version of the guide which has just started to roll out to customers. That version supports the myDVR Manager and other features.
New features included in the upcoming release:
myDVR Manager: From the internet and the Xfinity TV app, customers can: set recordings, view/modify scheduled recordings, view completed recordings, modify series priority lists, etc.

Xfinity TV Application: The ability to use your iPad to change channels on the TV

HSN Shop-by-Remote: A convenient, new way to make HSN purchases simply by using your remote. http://www.comcast.net/newguide/iTV_Guide_Shop-By-
Request for Info: Know more, save more! Introducing an easy way to request valuable coupons and info from advertisers simply by using your remote.

Ready Remind and Ready Record: Now you can conveniently set program reminders or recordings directly from certain TV show and movie advertisements.

This is a site by site roll-out so when your specific area gets it may vary. We aren't at liberty to release our scheduled dates or sequence at this point.
The majority of our customer deployments are scheduled to begin soon after the summer Olympics have completed (after August 12).

Any word on the Anyroom DVR for Camden County,NJ.
07-23-2012 03:21 PM
Thank you ComcastTeds -
I just received a phone call from your Marketing person from the Sunrise, FL. office. Now here is what she told me - that in my area Boca Raton, FL, which is in a different county, in order to even order Anyroom DVR I would also need to purchase the phone service because there is not enough interest yet in that product in my area.
We did speak about the technical issues I am still having with the guide and don't know if that will get fixed.
But, I'm wondering why last week the sales person in WPB told me that Anyroom DVR was NOT available in Boca and now this Marketing person said it is, ONLY if you purchase Triple play. This is very confusing to me.
But, thank you for getting someone to at least call me.

AnyRoom DVR is a separate service. AnyRoom DVR is not currently targeted for 2012 in areas of New Jersey that use Cisco or Scientific-Atlanta branded cable boxes.

It turns out that Anyroom DVR with the guide 2.0 is NOT available in my area of Boca Raton that uses Cisco boxes. The marketing person who called me, gave me all of the wrong information and when I spoke to a person from the correct office I was informed that when that guide becomes available in my area you would NOT have to order an additional service.
My original issue with my current dvr has not been addressed and the wrong person calls me to sell me more services when my current service doesn't work.
I really wish a person from the correct office would contact me concerning my issue.

Hello there. The person who called you is in the Comcast Regional Office that oversees multiple Comcast locations in Florida.
New areas get turned on every week in Florida for AnyRoom DVR availability.
It is now available at your specfic address, that is triple confirmed.
Not all areas of Boca Raton or the West Palm Beach area have AnyRoom DVR available just yet. We expect all of the Boca Raton and West Palm Beach areas to be 100% AnyRoom DVR ready by the end of August.
Typically the AnyRoom DVR installations have been limited to HD Triple Play customers in your area.
If you want AnyRoom DVR and the new guide, let me know and I can make a request to have an exception granted for you.

This thread is basically about the Cisco equipment getting the guide 2.0
Boston is a Motorola equipped system, which the DVR's is a totally different solution. Boston is the 1st market area to get the X1 guide & DVR, which is just starting to roll out now. Keep calling or check with your local Comcast office to check availibility of the X1 DVR. You will be getting it before the rest of the Motorola equipped area's.
08-02-2012 05:34 PM
What about Denver - any plans to upgrade here? The guide is so ancient...
08-02-2012 06:28 PM
Denver is Motorola, all Motorola area's will start sometime in 2013.
08-03-2012 02:20 PM
Does anyone know of a good way to get this information from Comcast?
I live in the Boston area and am trying to see if X1 is available.
So far:
1. Called comcast through 800 number. They stated "Sure, just bring in boxes to local service center and exchange them." So I boxed up my DVR's, brought them to the service center, and they don't have any.
2. Called comcast back. "Our inventory system is down and I can't tell if any are available. Please call back later"
3. Called back later. "I can't tell if any are available. Here is the number for sales. Perhaps they can help you."
4. Called sales number. "No this is collections...here is the sales number".
5. Called other sales number (Friday 2:00 pm local time).. <ring>...<ring>...<ring>.
Wow.
08-22-2012 10:05 PM
is "ComcastTeds" Still answering questions?
I am curios if guide 2.0 is available in Sarasota FL 34234, without the DVR, because according to the posts above, you need the any room DVR. I will have no use for DVR, so I just don't want to pay extra for something that I will not use.
The reason I guess I am wondering about guide 2.0, is because my Android and iPad app, say that I have no eligible cables boxes. I do have the Cisco RNG150 though, and as to what I could find online, in order to use my apps with my box, it needs to have guide 2.0?
