Is it possible to use my TV's V-chip in conjunction with my Comcast digital box, please? And if so, how please?
I'm presuming not, since the programming comes in via channel 4. (Yes, I've used the "lock" feature for certain channels or titles but it has limitations, especially the number of items that can be locked.)
FWIW, I have my own DVDR and I basically watch TV with the Comcast signal running through it.
Thanks in advance.

The V-Chip will work with DTA adapters and Cable Cards for sure, because they will just pass along the encoded signal information the V-Chip uses to determine the content level of the channel.
I am not sure it works with the full size boxes, because they have the parental control features which will fill the role of the V-Chip and allow you to block content. I would expect the full size boxes, in your case the DVR, to also pass along the V-Chip encoding information.

Thanks, ComcastNick.
The Comcast/Xfinity "locks" are ok-ish but seems that the number of locks (and "reminders") are dwindling. Do you know if the reduction is related to the really diminished number of guide listings that holds steady on my Motorola DCT700s at a steady 24-26 hours (versus 36-48) ? Thanks.

I don't think we've changed anything with the parental control settings recently.
There should be an option to set parental controls based on channel, title, movie or tv show rating, or tv content. The main problem with those locks are that we rely on the channels to tell us what the rating of a specific show is. And if you lose power, you lose the guide info for the 30 minutes it takes to reload, which will either make any channel available, or depending on the settings, have a parental control code required for all channels.
The amount of content loaded in to your cable box for the guide should not have any impact on the parental control options.
