Hi everyone.  I have a RNG150  cable box and I want to know if the ir port can be used to change the channels on the box.  Any assistance will be appreciated.  deanie44

A Motorola RNG150 can have a IR receiver added to hide the box and control the box.  There is a port on the back to connect a IR receiver.

Comcast will not supply these IR receivers.  The IR receiver that comes with the DTA digital adapter kit should work.  The IR receivers are also available on Ebay and HERE.

the doc for the cisco doesn't asy anything about the IR extender (on the back of the box) being optional.

However, I don't have one so I can't confirm it.  Best guess is that it is functional as IR extenders on the backs of other Comcast boxes are functional..
