I was curious when my area ( pittsburgh region or three rivers region) would receive the new on screen hd guide?
Also when will it receive the on-screen widgets like sports scores, stocks, news, and weather?

The best place for answers on this topic is at the Comcast Blog, they are posting dates and you can ask people who have answers.
Those Comcast rep's don't hang out here on the forum.

Where did you hear about this guide? Are you a motorola customer or SA cisco? The so called new guide, guide 2.0 is currently being rolled out to SA Cisco customers in Florida only.

rog286713 - More than just Florida my friend -- customers in six states now can get On-Screen Guide 2.0.
Today, customers using Cisco branded cable boxes in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina,
Mississippi, Tennessee and parts of Louisiana are able to experience On-Screen Guide 2.0 http://www.xfinity.com/onscreenguide2 when they subscribe to our AnyRoom DVR service.
You can get more information about AnyRoom DVR by calling 1-800-XFINITY or at the link below
http://info.xfinity.com/Portal/content/Comcast/Vid
On-Screen Guide 2.0 includes the myDVR Manager feature which allows you to schedule DVR recordings online. MyDVR Manager is available today in your area with a Cisco RNG 200-N and a subscription to AnyRoom DVR. Some links below for additional reading:
http://xfinitytv.comcast.net/mytv/dvr
The plan we are following is to introduce On-Screen Guide 2.0 with AnyRoom DVR initially and then also eventually include all of the RNG devices (RNG 100, 150 and 200) after a certain date in deployed markets later this year.

Some of the Instant Info and interactive on-screen elements you may have seen or heard about (sports scores, stocks, news, and weather) are in a trial phase to customers in parts of Florida on our Motorola cable boxes as an extension of the guide that you likely already have today.
I don't have a date that I can share just yet for areas outside of the Florida trial.

The guide that you have in northern NJ is only from 2010 (that's not THAT old) and includes a few new features mostly focused on DVR and some interactive functionality like caller ID.
All of the "new" features are listed at this link. http://xfinity.comcast.net/newguide/
We are building on that base guide a few new minor features that should be available starting over the summer including easier access to closed captioning, some bug fixes and some enhancements to the XFINITY TV app and how it works with the guide.
Most of our efforts are geared toward our two next gene guides; On-Screen Guide 2.0 http://www.xfinity.com/onscreenguide2 and On-Screen Guide 3.0 (also referred to as XX).
More on the X1 guide here:

This is the guide that we have in Augusta, GA with a few thousand customers and targeted for an additional market this year. We have also demonstrated this guide at a few places like the Philadelphia Home Show and the Philadelphia Design Home.
Some more links below (including a short video)

We are planning additional deployments of both of these guides in 2012 and 2013.

Is there a date as to when the new interactive features and on-screen guide 2.0 will be available to Motorola users in the Pittsburgh,PA area?
Also when will the new Spectrum DVR be available here?

that stinks. I've had the current guide for over 3 or 4 years now.
Any information on the widgets for motorola markets?

I don't have a date that I can share just yet for areas outside of the Florida trial.
Will that be this summer?

Thanks for your interest. I don't have dates or timelines for these products in the Pittsburgh, PA area that I can share just yet. As we get closer to wider deployments you will certainly hear more about these products.

any rough ideas? I know things can change or are the dates to be kept internally? If you need to email me the information you can or if you can point me in the direction of someone who can help me with my questions it would be appreciated.

The deployment schedule is dependent on a lot of different things.
I am not able to release that information right now. To do so could be setting false expectations, a situation that would be frustrating and not helpful. Once we get closer to wider deployment, our customers will certainly be made aware of any guide changes or new features through many methods.
Thanks for your questions and thanks for being a Comcast customer.

I just want to know if it is coming this year as I'm to decide a few things. How will we be notified. I found out about most new features by mistake or through the internet and half the time the local service center doesn't even know about it even after it is out.
I'd like better communication from comcast about what is coming up and even a tenative date.

Better communication is something that you will see. Typically notifications and announcements around products and services can be done via a combination of bill messages, e-mails, bill inserts, TV commercials, direct mail, box messages and via Comcast Voices http://blog.comcast.com/ as well as this site.
As I mentioned, we are planning additional deployments of both of these guides in 2012 and 2013. I don't have specifics that I can share just yet for your area.

A better guide, if available, should be impletmented across the board for all paying Comcast customers. Comcast needs to be like a fast food chain, have the same product and services for all chains nation wide.
I think Comcast would be more efficient if all markets had the same equipment and services. It takes too long for these much needed improvements to actually be impletmented before even newer tech comes out by other cable providers leading the way.
04-07-2012 10:06 AM
you are correct. The same guide should be everywhere. Beta test it with select people in every region. Give people a special number to call to beta test the new features.

Ted,
Thanks for your responses so far.
I just had the Triple Play package installed the other day and they installed the AnyRoom DVR with the Motorola box. Besides the fact that my AnyRoom DVR doesn't seem to work (I'll deal with Tech Support for that), I was wondering how I could either get a different box (the Cisco) or how I can get into the trial for OSG 2.0 on this Motorola box (front is marked RNG-200N, but I think the actual product nr is different)?

Unfortunately, our Scientific Atlanta/Cisco areas have a different infrastructure and plant architecture than our Motorola areas. They work differently and use different cable boxes and other equipment. Some of these areas were inherited, purchased or acquired by Comcast over the years.
The short story is that Cisco and Scientific-Atlanta cable boxes can't currently be used in Motorola areas and vice-versa.
Let me know how you make out with your AnyRoom DVR issue and let me know if I can help.

And there is no way to enroll for the trial for Motorola in South Florida?
Joel

no unfortunately I think they have a lottery basically. Same with testing other products like watchespn.com

I keep reading that Mississippi has the new Guide 2 and DVR Manager shoulf work. That is not true!! I live in the state capitol and we do not have it. I've been checking for months. The local Comcast people don't even know what I'm talking about. The onlline chat tecs were not any help. How about an update on when we can really expect to get the new guide and DVR Manager.
